Brazilian Rain Tree | Chloroleucon Tortum

Chloroleucon tortum, also known as the Brazilian Rain Tree, is a member of the legume family. Its appealing features include fern-like foliage with compound leaves that exhibit nyctinasty - the opening and closing of leaves in response to light. This tree, native to Brazil, can reach an impressive height of 30 feet.

Jim Moody, a Florida bonsai expert and owner of Jupiter bonsai, was the first in North America to successfully cultivate Brazilian Rain Tree. His sister-in-law, a nurse in Brazil, was amazed by the unique tree and sent Jim some seeds in a match box. Fortunately, 5 of the seeds germinated and grew into trees. However, due to its endangered status and export restrictions in Brazil, Jim's original 5 trees are now the foundation for almost all of North America's Brazilian Rain Trees. Almost all North America's Rain Trees are clones of one of these 5

Leaves: The Brazilian Rain Tree is highly regarded for its charming yet functional compound leaves, which react to light intensity by opening and closing. With each leaf containing a set of 3 pairs of bipinnate leaflets, it is a top selection for bonsai enthusiasts.

Flowers: Discover the unique beauty of the Brazilian Rain Tree. Its white-yellow ‘puff’ flowers and corkscrew shaped seed pods, make it a rare and stunning addition to any bonsai collection.

Enjoy its natural charm and beauty as a true industry expert.

Lies
Update! They are cracking and falling apart already with barely being used and careful care. Complete waste of money. Original review: These are horrible, as far as the smell and not being properly sanded. They aren't pre-oiled like they claimed either. Not worth what you pay for them.

Sturdy cutting boards!
These cutting boards work great and are sturdy. They lose color quickly but re oiling them will help that. Good product.

Great quality for the Price
Surprisingly decent for the price! The wood is actually pretty and high quality, but the manufacturing isn't great. The set a received is quite rough and my wife continues to think she will get a splinter. They also are oiled but they are quite dry still and also smell heavily of the mineral oil they use.

Beautiful but terrible quality.
While I absolutely loved the idea of cutting boards with a stand, these were not the right choice. The wood is exceptionally soft and after the first use the gouges from my knife were pretty deep. After I washed the cutting board from cutting veggies, it started to splinter. Maybe I just got a defective set but I definitely do not recommend this set. Will be returning and getting a different brand/board.

A unique treatise
Format: Paperback
I've read part way through this book at this point, reading it together with a friend. It provides plenty material for discussion. It seems to me to be aimed at a seminary audience, as there are some theological and Greek grammatical terms used, but not fully explained. It's not quick reading, but it makes up for that in the unique content. The content is to take a dozen key passages whose interpretation has varied over the last couple thousand years, and show exactly how these interpretations have varied. The title of the book, "...in Full Circle" refers to the idea that some contemporary interpretations have more in common with the most ancient church fathers than they do with their immediate predecessors over the last four or five hundred years. All in all, it's a fascinating way of looking at scripture - through the eyes of influential authors over the course of almost twenty centuries.
