This wonderful drought tolerant plant boasts several upright stems that sprout from the root, reaching heights of 6 to 12 inches. The stems and branches are adorned with stiff, coarse hairs, giving them a unique texture. Its leaves grow in pairs and vary in length from about 3/4 to 2 3/4 inches, attaching directly to the four-sided stems. You'll notice charming two-lipped flowers that display a lovely lavender to purple hue, accented with purple stripes in their throats. These delicate blooms measure around 1/2 to 1 inch long and can spread up to 1 inch wide, gracing the plant in a soft, scattered fashion across the main stem.

In late spring, these bell-shaped blooms emerge in the leaf axils, joyfully returning in late summer if moisture levels are sufficient. The beautiful flowers display shades ranging from pale lavender to purple and have that charming two-lipped shape.
