• About Spider Plant: Spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum) is a popular evergreen perennial houseplant with narrow, strap-shaped leaves growing out of the base of the plant. The mature plants start to grow long, thin draping stems with small leaves and spectacular plantlets, which look like spiders (then the plants are so named) which grow air roots or can be easily rooted in a potting mix. Their thick, fleshy rhizomes store water for handling drought conditions. 

• Why Grow Spider Plants. Spider plants are grown for their beautiful foliage with shining, bright bending leaves brightening up their surroundings. Their draping stems with a cluster of “spiderlings” are spectacular especially when growing in a hanging basket. Spider plant is an excellent air cleaner that remove harmful chemicals indoors. • Care Tips. Spider plants do very well with a wide range of soils and grow best when lightly pot-bound. Although these plants can stay with low light, it is best to grow them under bright indirect light. Water the plants when the soil becomes slightly dry. Feed the plants monthly during the growing season with a houseplant food. Spider plants can tolerate temperatures ranging from 35°F to 90°F and prefer temperatures between 65°F –75°F.
