Spice up your garden with a slice of nature’s beauty! The 'Orange Slices' Spigelia is a delightful woodland perennial that offers a burst of color with its tubular, orange-red flowers. These vibrant blooms appear from late spring into early summer, creating a feast for the eyes – and for the hummingbirds! These sweet, nectar-rich flowers are a magnet for these tiny, colorful creatures and other pollinators, making it a fantastic addition for anyone looking to attract some feathered friends to their garden.
But it's not just the birds that will be drawn to this beauty! This versatile perennial can thrive in both sun and shade, making it a go-to choice for nearly any garden spot. While it will produce the most flowers in full sun, it’ll appreciate a bit more moisture to keep it looking its best. In southern regions, filtered sun is your best bet to keep 'Orange Slices' happy. One of the coolest features of this plant? It's self-cleaning! No need to worry about old flowers drying up and hanging around – they simply fall to the ground, leaving your plant looking neat and tidy.
Found naturally along stream banks and in woodlands across the Eastern US, 'Orange Slices' Spigelia is a true wildflower enthusiast's dream. It’s long-lived once established and brings not just beauty, but a touch of nature’s charm to any garden. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just starting out, this plant is sure to impress with its striking flowers and easygoing nature.
