Light: Provide your Peacock Prayer Plant with bright, indirect light. It thrives in filtered sunlight or partial shade. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves. A north or east-facing window is often ideal.
Temperature: Maintain a warm and consistent environment with temperatures between 65-75°F (18-24°C). Avoid exposure to cold drafts or temperatures below 60°F (15°C).
Humidity: Calathea makoyana requires high humidity to flourish. Increase humidity levels by misting the plant regularly, using a humidity tray, or using a humidifier. Grouping plants together can also create a more humid microclimate.
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water your Peacock Prayer Plant when the top inch (2.5 cm) of the soil feels dry. Use lukewarm, non-chlorinated water and ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent root rot. Adjust the watering frequency based on the plant's needs and the surrounding humidity.
