Latin name - Ananas comosus

Pineapple plants are one of the most ubiquitous tropical fruit plants. Surprisingly, these bromeliads are in the same family as tree-dwelling epiphytes like Spanish moss.

The fruits are familiar, highly-palatable, and fun to grow. Pineapple plants prefer well-draining, sandy/loamy soil as their primary nemesis is root-rot. Container-growing your pineapples is absolutely acceptable and they take quite well to fruiting in a pot.

Pineapple plants, although fairly low-growers, create a wide footprint with their broad leaves. Feel free to cut leaves back out of your walking paths. Commercial growers practice this method regularly with no effect on fruit production.

After about 70-80 leaves have been produced (variety-dependent), a pineapple will begin to produce it’s flowering stem. Pineapples are seedless unless grown closely with other varieties or hand-pollinated for seed production. In the wild, pineapples are primarily pollinated by hummingbirds, but zero pollination is required to yield delicious fruits.

Pineapple fruits are high in water content (86%) and provide a rich source of manganese and Vitamin C. You’re likely well-aware that pineapples are widely used in drinks, confections, fruit salads, and straight up.

A little pineapple history…

Pineapples have been cultivated for centuries in their indigenous region of Central and South America, but were not introduced in Europe until the 17th century. It’s moniker is owed to the tendency of European explorers to name any novel round fruits “apples.”

Explorer John Smith was one of the first to utter the term “pineapple” to describe this fruit in 1624. By the late 1700’s and early 1800’s, wealthy Europeans installed greenhouses or imported pineapples for display purposes, cycling them through use as centerpieces until they began to rot.

In the 1800’s, commercial production of select cultivars like ‘Smooth Cayenne’ began. The ‘Smooth Cayenne’ cultivar achieved worldwide diaspora as it was favored for commercial growth throughout Europe, Hawaii, Australia, and Africa.

How long until my pineapple fruits?

The time from planting to harvest depends on the part of the plant you are using to propagate the pineapple. Use the guide below to set your expectations regarding harvest timeline:

-Pineapple Crowns (the top of the fruit) can produce a new crop within 12-18 months.

-Pineapple Pups/Suckers (off-shoots from the side of the plant itself) can produce a new crop within 18-24 months.

-Pineapple Slips (baby plants taken from the bottom of a pineapple fruit) can produce a new crop after about 24+ months.

When to pick pineapples…

Pineapples typically mature in the warmest months. In South Florida, harvest season rolls from June through September. You can tell your fruit is ready to pick when color change begins and the fruit begins to emit scent. Some gardeners are able to leave their pineapples on the plant until full yellow coloration; Gardeners with rodent pests should pick their fruits as soon as yellow blush appears to avoid loss of your precious fruits.

Once in a while, you may experience the glory of an off-season pineapple at Thanksgiving or Christmas-time.

Great Stuff!
Size: 5 Liter, Style: 1 Pack, Configuration: 5W-30
Purchased for my husbands F-150 Truck , his engine was making a weird noise and he thought he was going to have to get a new engine but a friend recommended to change his oil and use this one. Boom, it worked! Couldn't believe it cleaned the engine out and the noise went away. Engine seems to be working fine now. Will definitely use again!

Super nice and smooth, so much power! Car feels nimbler. Worth the price
Size: 5 Liter, Style: 1 Pack, Configuration: 5W-50
I normally don't buy such expensive engine oils (normally buy cheap diesel truck oils add in MoS2). However, this one was well worth the purchase. Engine feels substantially smoother and quieter. After running for a while, the car feels a lot nimbler. More power, and as if it simply wants to keep moving rather than whining. It glides like a magic carpet

Give the green light to the green oil.
Size: 5 Liter, Style: 1 Pack, Configuration: 0W-20
Great oil. I've used Liqui-Molly in all my vehicles and it always performs. Theres very little burn off between changes and I noticed cleaner, quieter engine. I've used this in many different car brands, it never disappoints.

Car Runs Smooth, Less Friction, and Improved Performance at Start Up and Underload.
Size: 5 Liter, Style: 1 Pack, Configuration: 0W-20
I kept hearing things about this oil from a few friends that work on cars and from my "go-to" mechanic. I was previously using Mobile 1 0w-20 on my 2024 4Runner and my wife's 2025 Outback Onyx, and this time around I decided to try it on both cars as they needed an oil change. So far I am happy with the change for both cars. This is good oil quality, smooth engine running, and noticeable oil lubrication at cold start. I am getting better MPGs mileage on both cars. Also noticeable engine is running with smoother. I had to lower my car window to check that my 4runner was on as it was quiet. I will update my review after a second oil change with this oil on both cars.

First off, this isn’t just any old motor oil—it’s high-tech motor oil. We’re talking German engineering at its finest. The neon green color? Oh yeah, it looks as cool as it sounds, and trust me, when you see that green oil running through your engine, you know you're in for some serious performance. 🟢💯 Why do I love it? Engine protection: This oil is like a security blanket for your engine. It reduces friction like a champ, so parts glide smoothly, which means less wear and tear. Translation: your engine will thank you with better performance and a longer life. Fuel efficiency: You’re not just getting a smoother ride; you’re also saving some bucks at the pump. The way this oil cuts down on friction helps with fuel economy. It’s like the gift that keeps on giving. Cold start-ups? No problem. Whether you’re dealing with a chilly morning or scorching summer, this oil handles temperature extremes like a boss. It maintains its viscosity so your engine stays protected regardless of the weather. And did I mention the Molygen technology? It’s not just a fancy name—this oil has additives that coat your engine in a protective film, keeping it running smooth and reducing the risk of damage, even during high-stress drives. Final thought: If you're looking for an oil that’s as serious about your car’s performance as you are, the Liqui Moly Molygen 5W-40 is it.
