Sansevieria hahnii jade f. albomarginata , also known as the dwarf jade margined snake plant, is a compact and elegant houseplant. It is prized for its rosette-shaped leaves with white or cream margins, which provide a subtle contrast to the deep green center, adding a touch of sophistication to any space.
Origin: This variety is derived from Sansevieria hahnii, a mutation or cultivar bred for its variegated foliage. The original species, Sansevieria trifasciata, is native to West Africa and Asia.
Growth: This plant is slow-growing, forming compact, low rosettes reaching about 15 to 20 cm in height. Its thick, stiff leaves, with delicately margined edges, grow in a spiral, creating a visually attractive structure.
Flowers: Indoor flowering is rare. If it does flower, it produces small, creamy-white tubular flowers, sometimes lightly scented.
Light: Prefers bright indirect light, but tolerates low light conditions. Bright light improves margin clarity and promotes optimal growth. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which can cause burning of clear margins.
Watering: Requires moderate watering. Allow the substrate to dry completely between waterings to prevent root rot. In winter, space out waterings as the plant goes dormant.
