Why parents love SnoozeShade Plus Extra

Parents love SnoozeShade Plus Extra because it gives little ones in the stroller seat reliable sun protection and an easy way to nap on the go, whether that is a summer day at home or a holiday abroad.

Unlike a parasol, which leaves patchy shade that needs constant adjusting, or a blanket, which is unsafe to drape over a pushchair, SnoozeShade is made from our exclusive EziBreez® mesh: air-permeable, baby-safe and designed for the job. It stays put, shades from the angles that matter, and gives your child a calm, sleep-friendly space wherever you are.

What it does

SnoozeShade Plus Extra works two ways, depending on whether your child is awake or napping.

  • Shade mode: the single-layer inner panel lets your child see out while blocking up to 80% of UV, plus wind, light rain, chill and insects. Ideal for everyday strolls, school runs and days out.
  • Snooze mode: add the outer snooze panel over the top to create a darker, distraction-free space that blocks 94% of light and up to 99% of UV (UPF 50+), helping your little one nap wherever you are.

Both panels roll up and tuck neatly into the front storage pocket when you are not using them.

What it's ideal for

SnoozeShade Plus Extra is for any child who is in the stroller seat, whatever their age. What matters is the seat, not how old they are. If your little one is in the stroller seat, this is the shade for them. If they are lying flat in a carrycot or pram, that is what the Original is for.

It fits any single-width pram, pushchair or jogging stroller with a hood, including popular frames like the Babyzen YoYo, Bugaboo, iCandy and UppaBaby. It also works on tandems (one per seat) and some side-by-side double buggies, depending on the frame.

Many families use it for years. Cara, the inventor of SnoozeShade, used hers on and off until her daughter was five, for naps on holiday, long days out and evenings in busy restaurants.

Why shade matters

The World Health Organization advises seeking shade once the UV index reaches 3 or above. In the UK that often means most of the day from April to September, and UV passes through cloud and reflects off concrete, water, sand and even snow, so a child can be exposed even when it feels cool.

Parasols and canopies rarely cover a child fully and do nothing about reflected UV. SnoozeShade Plus Extra is made with our EziBreez® mesh and gives UPF 50+ protection, blocking up to 99% of UV, across the top and sides, which is where the sun actually reaches a child in a stroller seat. The single-layer front panel lets them see out and blocks up to 80%, and that is the direction the sun is least likely to come from.

How it helps toddlers and preschoolers sleep

Toddlers are alert, easily overstimulated and far too interested in the world to want to switch off, which makes naps on the go hard. Zip up the snooze panel and it creates a calm, shady cocoon that blurs distractions and helps them wind down, like a sensory reset from movement, light and noise.

It is especially loved on holidays, days out and during travel, because it heads off overtiredness before it starts. Many parents tell us it has become part of their child's nap routine, a cue that it is time to sleep even in a new place.

Why daytime naps matter (even for older children)

It is a myth that only babies need naps. Most toddlers and many preschoolers still benefit from daytime sleep, especially during growth spurts, travel or starting nursery. Sleep supports brain development, mood and behaviour, and overtired children are more prone to tantrums, fussy eating and broken nights.

Even the occasional nap on a long day out is worth having, and SnoozeShade makes those easier to get.

Why SnoozeShade Plus Extra was invented

SnoozeShade started with a simple idea: help babies sleep safely and comfortably in their pram wherever they are. The Original was made for newborns lying flat, but as my own daughter grew older and more curious, she needed something different: a single-layer front panel to see out while awake, and a snooze panel to block distractions at naptime.

It also shades the eyes and skin of babies who will not keep sunglasses on, and it doubles as a built-in insect and mosquito net, so there is no need to pack a separate one. And while your little one can see out, others find it hard to see in, which helps an overstimulated toddler settle. We manage all of this without any chemical treatments or coatings.

Safety and airflow

Safety came first when SnoozeShade was designed, and it still does.

You may have seen advice warning against covering a pram, and that advice is worth taking seriously. It is about covers that trap heat and restrict airflow. SnoozeShade is the opposite: it is made from EziBreez® air-permeable mesh, tested to rigorous air-permeability standards and shown to let air flow freely even when fully zipped up. There is no sealed air chamber and no greenhouse effect, just constant airflow supported by natural convection. On very hot days, push your pram hood back slightly, not all the way, so warm air can rise and escape through the mesh, and add a pram fan for extra comfort.

The safety details that matter:

  • Made from EziBreez® mesh: air-permeable, blocks up to 99% of UV with both panels, and gentle enough that even a newborn could breathe against it.
  • Only short straps, with no long straps, toggles, magnets or buttons, so nothing that could pose a choking, strangulation or entrapment risk. Use only the straps you need.
  • No toxic dyes or chemicals. Every part is tested to the same standards as a newborn toy, including heavy metals and flammability.
  • The only range of pram and sleep shades approved by INPAA, the Infant and Nursery Products Alliance of Australia, the country's leading nursery safety authority.
  • Trusted by over half a million families and recommended by sleep consultants, safety experts and health professionals worldwide.

We have run 24-hour in-pram heat tests with data loggers and found no temperature build-up, and parents in hot climates like Australia, the UAE and Southern Europe have used SnoozeShade safely since 2010.

☀️ Top tip for warm weather

For extra comfort in hot weather, pair your SnoozeShade with a portable pram fan. It keeps air moving and helps your baby stay comfortable in warm weather.

FAQs

What's the difference between the Plus Extra & Plus Deluxe?

We get that question a lot, so we have written this blog post to answer it.

Can I use it with my stroller seat reclined?

Absolutely. It works whatever position your seat is in.

Do I need to leave it on all the time?

Not at all. It folds down into a free storage pouch that slips into your changing bag or buggy basket.

How do I attach it?

Use any of the eight straps to secure it around the pram's hood and frame. You don't need to use them all, just the ones you need to get the fit you want. Our instructions page has short demo videos and tips to make it easier.

Can I wash it?

Yes. Machine wash at 30 degrees, then hang to dry or tumble dry on a low heat. It dries quickly, so it is ready to use again fast.

The Most Comfortable Office Chair that I've Owned.
Color: Grey
This is by far the most comfortable office chair that I've ever owned or sat in. I've owned quite a few office chairs. Some big and comfy, some new ergonomic designs, some super expensive, others supplied by my employer, and even 2 other/prior Serta chairs. This, by far beats them all. I first purchased this chair for my wife in her office. She's of average size as well, but she always felt like she was being swallowed by some of the larger, more cushiony office chairs. She wanted to be comfortable, but didn't want to drown in the chair. I purchased this chair for her and she absolutely loves it. It's been a year now, and it's holding up well, looks great, and she has zero complaints. Which brings me to my personal purchase for myself. I'm average size. A little bulky, but not too big. I've been through so many chairs. They all feel great initially, but after a lot of use, I felt uncomfortable, or fatigued from sitting, and even sore. I have some lumbar back issues, and my tail bone occasionally gets sore if I sit too long, especially if I slouch over time. I was ready to buy a new chair, and it takes me forever to decide, however I do really like my wife's chair. So I purchased this chair for myself. I must say, that this chair is the best that I've used. It's not huge. You wouldn't be too comfortable trying to nap in it. But for sitting and working? It's amazing. Perfect lumbar support, super soft on the butt without swallowing you, and keeps you straight, and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this product.

Petite person's perspective
Color: Grey, Color: Grey
Full name on the box: Light Grey Bonded Leather/Mesh Air Executive Chair (Model: 43807) This review is from a petite female’s perspective I was browsing for couple months and this Serta chair stood out to me, mainly aesthetically. I don’t see many chairs in this color or style. It matched with the rest of my PC/desk setup. Positives -Seat is comfortable. -Lumbar support is good. It helps me sit very straight. -The casters were surprisingly easy to put in. I had to use some force with two of them though. They roll fine on carpet. -Easy assembly Neutral/Negatives -Paint of armrests is easily scratched. I accidentally scratched it while installing the back. -The black plastic caps used to hide the screws don’t fit well. The plastic inserts for hiding screws in arms don’t fit well either. It makes the chair appear cheap. (I will provide images) -Craftsmanship isn’t the best. Not noticeable from a distance though. -At lowest setting, my feet can’t touch the ground but being 4’11” it’s to be expected. -Height of the back is too high for my liking. I prefer a few inches shorter so I can tilt my head back to rest my neck. My fault for not realizing I should look into "mid-back chairs". -Head/top area is too firm. I prefer it to be squishy (e.g. Serta Smart Layers Verona or Siena). As another reviewer mentioned, don’t forget to remove the foam or cardboard behind the lumbar and head/shoulder. That is supposedly the last step when assembly is all done. **If you come across any issues/warranty, you contact TRUE INNOVATIONS, not Serta. (I will provide images)

***Serta should recall this chair!
Color: Grey
Serta quality and comfortable for office use only, casual home use isn't the same... the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars for ergonomics is that if you are not sitting upright in "office mode" and you want to slouch and relax, the seat makes you feel like you are always sliding forward in the chair? I assume that is because it's an "ergonomic" chair, but it is well built and worth the price in my opinion. ***Updated addition; after using the chair to work from home & casual use, it is still annoying to feel like it tilts forward unless you are sitting up perfectly straight! I have also noticed that if you get up or reposition yourself (due to the forward sliding) the seat height resets itself back up to the top!? So when you sit back down you have to lower the seat again... my last Serta chair never had these issues!! For the price point, this shouldn't be a chair I will be replacing after a few months - but not with another Serta! ****Second update = now 1 star! (Chair still looks new, I only work from home 1 day a week, and take great care of my things so there is no damage or even usage wear) After trying to make the best of this chair, it is even more annoying to use.. it now "groans" when any movement rocking back or forth... it still feels like it is forcing you to slide forward and feels like the chair wants your to fall out! Leaning back doesn't stay (no adjustment to keep from "leaning forward") so no matter what I do, I hate sitting in this chair more every day... and now I am very worried about buying another chair blind online! ***Serta should recall this chair! *****Third update = Chair still looks and feels brand new, but now randomly will make weird creaking and groaning noises with every movement and as an added bonus it randomly just sinks to the lowest level without warning!!! Typing away and it just starts sinking until it hits bottom! I don't know how an expensive chair could be so awful!!

Good chair, Hensley is more comfortable
Color: Grey, Color: Grey
Received chair in a large box and assembly was easy. Instructions call for 2-person assembly but I set out to do as much as I could by myself until someone else was available. No tools needed other than the Allen wrench provided. I assembled the chair in under an hour by myself. The 2 person portion of the assembly was for attaching the seat to the wheel assembly but I managed to attach it myself with some careful maneuvering. The chair is nice and comfortable enough, but I was spoiled by the comfort of trying a different Serta model (Hensley, now discontinued) ina store. I couldn't find that model anywhere else and the floor model was SOOOO comfortable with its Serta Smart Layers. I was hoping Bryce would be a close second. After trying Bryce for a few days, I'd say its a distant third. If I never met Hensley, Bryce might have a higher rating. Update: based on other reviews, I made covers for the armrests to prevent wear and peeling of the padding cover.
