Agapanthus Peter Pan "Dwarf"

In this smaller version of the popular Agapanthus africanus “Blue’, the periwinkle-colored flowers are borne in spherical clusters on short 8-12”long stems which appear above the foliage in the spring and summer months.

The flowers resemble fireworks – a sphere of beautiful funnel-shaped flowers. Long very narrow strap-like deep green leaves form a handsome architectural mound.

This evergreen is excellent in borders or can serve well as an accent in the landscape. It craves sun to part shade and will not exceed 12-18” in height with a similar spread.

Hardy to 10°F, it is native to South Africa. Agapanthus africanus resists drought but does best with regular water and well-drained soil. It tolerates seacoast conditions well and is an excellent container plant. Bees, butterflies, and birds find the flowers irresistible.

  • Plant in groups to create a lush, tropical feel to the landscape
  • Occasionally reblooms, if spent flower stems are promptly removed
  • Bees and butterflies are attracted to the bold flower clusters
  • Grows 12 in. W and tall to 18 in. W and tall
  • Thrives in full sun to part shade and grows in almost any well-drained soil
  • Performs best in USDA plant zones 8-10
  • To accommodate mature size, space about 18 in. away from other plants or structures, for hedges, space 18 in. on center

Yes. Agapanthus lilies are probably of minimal toxicity to animals unless eaten in quantity. However, where a dog or cat is prone to chewing on plants, it would be prudent to remove the plant from the animals environment.

          Plant care

Add top soil or organic peat humus, mixed together with composted cow manure, to the hole when you plant.

Choose a well-drained area that doesn't stay overly wet or any philodendron will rot from too much moisture.

Water regularly but allow enough time for the plant to dry out a bit between waterings.

The only need for trimming a Hope philodendron is to remove a dead leaf or stem occasionally.

This is not a plant that should be cut back for size. Doing this is pretty much futile because of the way a philodendron grows (and doing so will spoil its good looks) so planning for ultimate size is important.

Fertilize 3 times a year - once each in spring, summer and fall - with a good quality granular fertilizer.

          Plant spacing

Plant 3 or 4 feet apart. Come out from the house 3 feet.

If you're planting near a walk or drive, come in at least 3 feet (more if you can) to give the plant room to grow wide without getting in the way.

Allow enough room between Hope and the plants near it...the large leaves may overlap other, smaller plants once the philodendron has begun to mature.

This is a very good plant for large containers - great for balconies, patios, even indoors.

              Keeps my dog busy
My dog has so much fun getting peanut butter out of this chew! It has small holes so it makes them put a little more effort than a typical chew. I would say it keeps them occupied for at least 15-20 minutes and they get pretty tired after. I think it's a good size for my medium dog. One thing i wish they did was making it with a silicone rather than nylon. It does get chewed off and I don't like the fact that they are ingesting them. All in all it's a great design to keep than busy.

              Seriously durable
I have 3 XXL dogs (how convenient this comes in a three pack!). They will destroy many toys marked for aggressive chewers, but not these. Plus, they are good sized, leaving room for me to hold them while they are chewing when I elect to do that. I don't really smell anything in the toy itself. Maybe the dogs do, but not enough to keep their interest more than a few minutes. However, when I smeared it with peanut butter, it was a whole new story. All 3 of them LOVED that and spent some time getting every last morsel of peanut butter out of the toy. In the meantime, because of the honeycomb texture, I feel they were getting a decent dose of tooth cleaning as well. I wish the texture were a little deeper to fit more peanut butter, but I suppose it is probable that would make the surface texture less durable. My dogs like them, so I do too!

              Great product! Durable, chewable, awesomeness!

Very well made and durable. My dog hasn't left them alone since i opened them. Hes been at it for about 45 minutes straight now! Lol. He's an avid chewer. He will chew thru and fabric or cloth toys in less then a day. But these are what he really likes because they take time to chew apart. The shapes, are great, because one he props up with his paws and chews and it seems like it's easy to grip for him. Thru are hard so if you have hard floors it can get a bit noisy when he drops them. Over all this is a great product. Safe, chewable, long lasting, fun shape looks real to him (i think lol), Me and my dog Lucky are both happy with his new toys!

My aggressive chewers love these! It’s been a few weeks and still in one piece and man they chew them for hours on end.

              Amazingly great product!
              Color: Grilled color
I’m not just saying this, ok, this is not hyperbole: this is THE best nylon bone for chewing that I have ever purchased. And you get TWO of them for relatively less expensive than most chew toys give you one! I have 2 golden retrievers, and if you know goldens, you know that they are some of the most relentless and powerful chewers around. So I can’t give them almost any toy other than rubber stuff or it will be destroyed in a period of time that doesn’t make it worth it. One of them even figured out how to destroy a supposedly indestructible toy made out of kevlar! She was able to get into it through the seam, which is not kevlar ha ha. Anyway, I digress; I never even considered nylon chews because they suck! Usually. Usually my dogs in the past have lost interest with them in less than a day. I took a chance on these mainly because of the novel shapes, the fact that they give you two, and the low price. Both my goldens LOVE these! Not just for one day, but going on weeks now! I don’t know if it’s the flavor or what, but I will see them gnawing on one of them at some point every day. And they CAN’T destroy them (I knew nylon was good for that, but it was the “who cares” attitude of my previous dogs toward nylon that kept me away). Both the “ribs” and “steak” (quite clever) are a bit worn on the edges now, but they look like they will be around for years. You can’t go wrong with this product (unless for some reason your dog does not like the flavor, but the flavor seems to be what draws my dogs to them). I highly recommend this (these) as the most cost-effective chew toy I’ve ever purchased.
