Monstera Dubia - The Shingle Plant

Monstera dubia stands out among monstera varieties with its distinctive heart-shaped leaves that display a striking pattern of light and dark green variegation. This climbing plant creates a unique visual effect as it grows, making it a prized addition for serious houseplant collectors.

Distinctive Leaf Characteristics

The leaves of Monstera dubia are smaller compared to other monstera species, featuring a speckled pattern that alternates between light and dark green tones. Each heart-shaped leaf grows flat against its climbing surface, creating the characteristic "shingled" appearance that gives this plant its common name. This growth pattern mimics how the plant naturally climbs trees in its native habitat.

Growth Habit and Care

As a climbing plant, Monstera dubia thrives when provided with a support structure such as a moss pole or wooden plank. The plant's leaves will lie flat against the support, displaying their full variegated pattern. This shingle plant adapts well to low light conditions, making it suitable for various indoor environments. Its air-purifying qualities add functional value beyond its ornamental appeal.

Perfect for Collectors

Monstera dubia represents one of the lesser-known species in the monstera genus, making it particularly desirable for collectors seeking rare tropical plants. The combination of compact size, unique leaf pattern, and distinctive growth habit sets it apart from more common monstera varieties. This plant works well in smaller spaces while still providing the tropical aesthetic that monstera enthusiasts appreciate.

  • Botanical Name: Monstera Dubia
  • Common Names: Shingle Plant
  • Description: Monstera dubia is one of the smaller, lesser-known monstera varieties, but it's very beautiful and makes a great addition to any monstera lover's houseplant collection. You can recognize Monstera dubia by the small, heart-shaped leaves, speckled with both light and dark green. The gorgeous light and dark green patterned leaves make this a beautiful plant. Monstera dubia is sometimes called the "shingle plant" because its leaves lie so flat against the trees it climbs in the wild, creating the appearance of shingles.

Don't waste your money.
Instead of buying one from the local auto store, thought I'd save money and get this. Bad choice. Installed it and it didn't work. Took it to the auto shop to be tested and they said it didn't work. Cheap imitation of the the real thing.

Exceeds performance expectations of OEM fluids
Size: 5 Quart Jug
You know I didn't think it would work as well I've heard all these horror stories but you know what this works better than the factory CVT fluid this stuff is great this is amazing be very careful to get your levels correct that goes without saying with any transmission but once you do that this fluid is amazing I have a better performance than when I had the new transmission I serve my CvT 35 to 40,000 miles I'm using it in a 2018 Mitsubishi outlander base model and I'm also running Yokohama geolander 015s on it. If you worry about tires for you Mitsubishi or any vehicle. I'm going to say you'll call when you lander whether it's a car or crossover or an SUV this tire is amazing it's best all around tire and your rain traction is phenomenal

Good Stuff!! All low speed shudder is gone.
Size: 5 Quart Jug
I have a 2020 Nissan Altima SL 2.5l and Nissan is VERY specific about using ONLY NS3 transmission fluid. There are only a couple NS3 transmission fluid manufacturers...Nissan NS3 (Manufactured by Idemitsu), Idemitsu (a little cheaper than Nissan dealer), Triax, and Mannol (works good too). Seeing as Nissan is still using Jatco CVT transmissions which are known to be very troublesome, and very expensive to replace I wouldn't try any of the so-called "universal" transmission fluids just to save $50 and end up replacing a $6000 transmission. The Triax fluid seems to work very good in my car. I don't feel the shutter that I normally feel when driving slow and need to accelerate. The shudder is completely gone and operating smooth. The old fluid had 50k miles and it was very dirty but didn't smell burnt. I ended up doing 2 - 3 1/2 quart changes with 200 miles between the first and second change. I plan on doing another 3.5/4 quart change every 15k miles since there is no way to completely drain the 7.4 quarts of transmission fluid. The first change, only 3.5 quarts drained from the pan.

Quality fluid for half cost in Mini CVT.
Size: 5 Quart Jug
Used in the cvt transmission in my 06 mini cooper. The fluid requirements recommended by BMW are met with this fluid. Fluid improved shifting and performance at half the cost of traditional BMW OEM fluid.
