Protea magnifica, also known as the Queen Protea, is a remarkable flowering plant native to South Africa. This evergreen shrub is celebrated for its majestic and elegant appearance. It features large, globe-shaped flower heads that can measure up to 8 inches in diameter, comprising an intricate arrangement of colorful bracts surrounding a central, dome-shaped structure filled with tiny individual flowers. These flower heads come in various shades, including pink, crimson, or white, adding to their visual allure. Protea magnifica thrives in its native Mediterranean climate, characterized by dry summers and wet winters, and prefers well-draining, sandy soils. Like other Protea species, it holds cultural significance and represents transformation and change in South African symbolism. Highly cherished as an ornamental plant, it is a favorite choice for garden landscapes and is prized for its exquisite beauty, making it a stunning addition to floral arrangements and the horticultural world.  Zones 9-11

Germination

Germinating Protea magnifica seeds can be a delicate process. Prepare a well-draining potting mix, usually consisting of equal parts sand and peat moss. Sow the seeds on the surface of the soil and gently press them down without covering them, as they require light to germinate. Water the soil lightly and ensure it's consistently moist but not waterlogged. Cover the container with a clear plastic lid or plastic wrap to create a humid microclimate, essential for successful germination. Place the container in a warm, bright location with indirect sunlight. Germination can be slow and sporadic, taking several weeks to months. Once the seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into larger pots with similar soil conditions. Protea magnifica is a beautiful and cherished plant, and though its germination process may require patience, the stunning flowers it produces make it a worthwhile endeavor for dedicated gardeners.

Most comfortable flip flops ever! From day 1!
Size: 7.5, Color: White Khaki
These are hands down the most comfortable flip flops ever. There is no 'break-in' period. The fabric is so soft you forget it's there and it doesn't rub between your toes at all. By the second full day of wear, the foam was starting to conform to the contour of my feet. They feel and look great. The bottoms have a nice triangle tread pattern on them instead of being totally flat so I'm hoping they will still get traction on wet floors like pool areas etc. I got them after nearly doing a split again in my old ones that were a safety hazard poolside.

Nice flip flops
Size: 7, Color: Grey
Nice looking flip flops. They feel good and well made, but I've only worn them for a few hours. The material that goes over the feet is almost too stretchy. I hope they don't stretch out more. I have wide feet and these fit great, true to size. I like the grey color.

Comfortable and convenient
Size: 34, Color: Kangaroo
Got these to replace some old cargo shorts that aren't made anymore and are developing holes. So far I have been very pleased. The waist fits true to size and the fit is relaxed through the seat and thigh, which is exactly what I was looking for since I have somewhat stout thighs relative to my waist. I'm 6'0", about 200lbs, with a 34-35" waist. The material feels sturdy without being overly heavy, about as thick as old ripstop BDUs. Front slash pockets are generously deep; no problem carrying a 5.5" smartphone in there. Rear pockets are sufficiently deep and are narrow enough that a trifold wallet won't turn itself sideways. Cargo pockets are adequately sized and have hook and loop closures at the corners. The "tech" pocket behind the left cargo pocket is very convenient for me, as I'm used to carrying my phone on that side. I can slide my Samsung Galaxy S25 in there and it fits well without worrying about it falling out. I wore these for a couple of days at Disney World last week and they performed very well. Moving my phone to that tech pocket made rides with lap bars or belts much more comfortable. I even washed these shorts at the resort so I could wear them on the long drive home. If I could change anything about them, I'd add about an inch of length, as I prefer a full 11" inseam on cargo shorts. And maybe add a button or some kind of closure to the rear pockets. But aside from that, these have been pretty close to perfect. I expect I'll order more as I replace more of my older cargo shorts.

Great Shorts
Size: 38, Color: Grain Twill
Ok.... I have bought these several times, the shorts aren't wearing out or tearing, I am losing weight,.... I like these shorts so much, I keep buying them in my new size... Every size (44 42 40 and 38) has fit well, good length, and are comfortable... Pockets are functional, left side fits my smart phone... Yes, I will buy them again....

Lightweight and comfortable
Size: 42, Color: Kangaroo, Size: 42, Color: Kangaroo
The fit is just right and they're very comfortable. This is the second pair I've bought and the review could easily be for both pairs. The only difference between them is the color. I deducted a star because they really need at least 2 more belt loops. Why do manufacturers skimp on something that would be so inexpensive to do right? The belt loops on either side of the front button are 11 inches apart. Ideally they'd be at most 5 or 6 inches apart. Anyway, these will be the shorts I wear to do my yard work. I can put my phone in the right hand cargo pocket and know that the Velcro closure won't let it fall out while I'm working. My keys will go in the left side cargo pocket. I'd definitely buy them again. The price is right and they are comfortable to wear.
