Achillea millefolium

Western yarrow is a staple in sunny pollinator gardens and parking strips. It has an impressive bloom-time, sporting flat-topped clusters of showy, white flowers from spring to fall. The flowers sit upon hardy stalks making them ideal for fresh or dried arrangements – or to simply leave in the low-maintenance winter garden for birds and overwintering insects.

Yarrow is highly attractive to pollinators, butterflies, and other beneficial insects – providing them with nectar and a larval food source. The foliage is delightfully-delicate, lacy and fernlike. It can also be also used as a lawn substitute if mown infrequently.

  • Plant type/canopy layer: deciduous, perennial, herbaceous plant
  • Size at maturity: 12-24" tall, 24" wide
  • Light requirements: full sun
  • Moisture requirements: moist to dry soil
  • Growth rate/ease: fast growth rate, easy to grow
  • Bloom time: April - October
  • Wildlife support: flowers attract and provide nectar to adult butterflies, bees and other insect pollinators; overall plant attracts and support beneficial and other pest eating insects and is a caterpillar host plant and larval food source for native butterflies and moths
  • Native range: common across a wide diversity of habitats from open woodlands, shrublands, grasslands, pastures, rocky slopes, roadsides and even highly disturbed areas, lawns, and your neighborhood bus stop. Native to all ecoregions of Oregon and is widespread across the Pacific Northwest and even in many areas of North America, Asia, and Europe. Portland Plant List – yes.
  • Special features & uses: drought tolerant, beneficial insect, pollinator and wildlife favorite, medicinal, lawn substitute

What to Expect + Gardening with Western Yarrow: Hardy, easy to grow - an excellent addition for sunny wildflower meadows and pollinator parking strips. It spreads vigorously, but not obnoxiously, by rhizome and seed. Incredibly low-maintenance and drought tolerant. Over time, you’ll have enough to share with friends. The spent flowers stay upright on a sturdy stalk and, if left, can provide winter interest and habitat resources for birds and overwintering beneficial insects.

Seed Sowing Instructions: Can be fall or spring sown - no stratification required. Spring seeds on the surface of bare earth at a rate of about 60 seeds/sq ft. Do not cover. If planting in small pots outside, put one small pinch per pot. Then, protect from heavy rains so the seed does not get washed away. Alternatively, can be directly sown in situ, one small pinch in each area you want it to grow.

Fall-winter sown seed may not germinate until temps warm in the spring. Spring sown should germinate within a couple of weeks. Each packet contains approximately 650 seeds.

Bright, Sleek, and Easy to Install – Perfect Under Cabinet Lighting!
Color: 6500K White, Size: 1Roll x 16.4ft
I’m extremely happy with the CUBITOR Under Cabinet COB LED Light Strip kit! The 6500K daylight brightness is perfect—super clean, crisp, and evenly distributed with no visible dots thanks to the COB design. It really upgraded the look of my kitchen and made food prep so much easier. Installation was straightforward and hassle-free. The strip is flexible and cuttable, which made it easy to customize for my space. The adhesive backing is strong, and everything feels high quality and well-made. One of my favorite features is how smooth and diffused the lighting is—it gives a modern, high-end feel without being harsh on the eyes. It’s also very energy-efficient and stays cool even after hours of use. Overall, this is an excellent lighting solution for cabinets, shelves, or workspaces. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for bright, professional-looking LED lighting!

Polarity
Color: 6500K White, Size: 1Roll x 16.4ft, Color: 6500K White, Size: 1Roll x 16.4ft
I've been looking into various kits and components but this one seemed to fit my needs perfectly - all components included and the flexibility to cut strips (up to 6) to the lengths I needed. Its also very thin and needs no other mounting hardware, channels, diffusers, screws, etc. No instructions - but everything only fits together one way except which end of the LED strip to connect to (polarity). For my reel, it was towards the center of the reel and not the freed end - which meant I had to cut a piece off and connect the end that was just cut. Insert the cut end into the connect after peeling off a bit of the blue tape. You can also peel off a little bit of the white tape beneath that to expose the copper contacts - but the connector contacts can pierce that layer if you don't want to peel off the white layer also. (Don't peel it all off, just enough to to fit into the connector.) Insert the end, press down the hinged part until it clicks or is otherwise all the way clamped - don't need tools, just your fingers squeezing it is enough. Test the assembly by plugging it into the power supply. You can also connect the remote - a blue LED on the power supply tells you whether its on or off. Once I figured out which end to connect to, everything was quite straightforward. I installed my 6 strips in my small pantry - one for each shelf - and routed all the wires to one side, mostly hidden. I mounted the remote on the pantry door - it can sense through the door - which is not very thick - as well as just tapping it once the door is open. The remote can be touchless - just wave your hand near it - but it seems to also sense tapping from some objects. Holding down on the remote activates dimming - it will cycle through brightness and stop when you release. Other than that, its as simple as I had hoped and took me about an hour to install (I expect my next install will be 30 mins). I am planning to order more kits for other closets, kitchen, etc.

UPDATED: Replacement works great
Color: 3000K Warm, Size: 1Roll x 16.4ft
FINAL UPDATE: Seller shipped new power unit and it works great now. The lights are really great and super easy to cut to size and use. UPDATE 1: Seller got in touch and is sending replacement power unit. Will update again once it arrives. I do really like the look of these and they did wonders for a dark park of my closet that has built-ins. ORIGINAL: Lights stopped working after about 6 weeks (beyond the 30 day return policy). Seems like the control unit died. Haven’t found any feasible way to contact seller or manufacturer. Will update review if anything changes.

Light it up!
Color: 3000K Warm, Size: 2Roll x 16.4ft, Color: 3000K Warm, Size: 2Roll x 16.4ft
I am very happy with these. They are easy to use. The only reason I am not giving a five star review is because the instructions and assembly weren’t the easiest. At first we could not get them to work. After looking through the reviews, one man told us that the -\+ were backwards and we tried what he suggested and they worked. I do suggest that because there are two light reels there should be two connecter boxes as well. We had to purchase two packages. Overall, We are satisfied with our purchase.
