We should gradually increase sunlight availability for the sapling to reduce possibility of sun burn of leaves.  During winter season (if atmospheric temperature is less than 20⁰ C), the germination rate may be adversely affected and even after germination, the plant growth may reduce. This careful process ensures strong, healthy lotus plants that will enhance your aquatic garden.
