GROWING GUIDE

Sow at any time of year except mid summer as too much heat may result in spindly plants.

• Sow on the surface of a moist, well drained seed compost in pots or trays.
• Seal in a polythene bag and place on a windowsill or in a propagator and maintain a temperature of 18-20C.
• Germination should occur after 15-60 days.

• As the seedlings emerge, gradually increase ventilation by opening the propagator vents or the bag.
• Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 9cm pots.
• Grow on in slightly cooler conditions with plenty of light, but shaded from direct sun.
• When established, in mid spring gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions by placing plants outside during the day for 2 weeks before planting out.
  
• Move container plants to a frost free place for winter. In mild areas, can be planted in the garden and wrapped up in winter with fleece.
