Monsters Franken Berry Cereal Object Art by Kaws

Monsters Franken Berry Cereal Object Art by Kaws, also known as Brian Donnelly, is a limited-edition collectible that reimagines the beloved General Mills cereal through the lens of street pop art. Released in 2022, this unopened cereal box is no longer manufactured, making it a rare and highly sought-after art piece. Measuring 7.5x10 inches, the artwork features the iconic Franken Berry character with Kaws’ distinctive artistic style. While this piece resembles a traditional breakfast cereal, it is explicitly labeled as not fit for consumption and is meant to serve as an art object.

Nostalgia Meets Contemporary Art

Franken Berry cereal, introduced in 1971, is a classic member of the General Mills monster-themed cereal lineup. Kaws’ reinterpretation of the character incorporates his signature X-shaped eyes and subtle design tweaks that add a modern, edgy flair to the nostalgic branding. The vibrant pink tones of the box, combined with the playful and surreal depiction of Franken Berry, make it a striking visual piece. This fusion of nostalgia and contemporary art exemplifies Kaws’ ability to repurpose everyday consumer items into thought-provoking collectibles that challenge the traditional boundaries of art and design.

The Vision of Brian Donnelly (Kaws)

Brian Donnelly, professionally known as Kaws, is an acclaimed artist whose work spans graffiti artwork, street pop art, and collectible design. His career began with graffiti in the 1990s and evolved into a global phenomenon that bridges commercial and fine art. Kaws’ signature motifs, such as X-shaped eyes and cartoon-inspired characters, are instantly recognizable and have been applied to a variety of mediums, including sculptures, fashion, and limited-edition art pieces. Monsters Franken Berry Cereal Object Art reflects Kaws’ playful yet critical approach to consumer culture, transforming a familiar product into a collectible art object.

A Rare and Collectible Artifact

This limited-edition collectible is an example of how Kaws transforms mass-produced items into exclusive art objects. The unopened cereal box retains its original form, with added artistic flourishes that elevate it beyond mere packaging. Its compact 7.5x10-inch size allows for versatile display options, making it a perfect addition to any collection of street pop art or designer toys. The rarity of the piece, combined with its connection to a culturally iconic product and a celebrated artist, ensures its value as a collectible. Monsters Franken Berry Cereal Object Art by Kaws is more than a nostalgic nod to a childhood favorite—it is a clever exploration of consumer culture through the medium of street pop art. By infusing the familiar Franken Berry character with his distinctive style, Kaws creates a dialogue between past and present, mass production and fine art, making this piece a standout in contemporary art collections.

Great for treats
Color: Octopus Purple & Blue
We purchased this to keep our dog busy and engaged. He seems to enjoy it. We placed 1 or 2 treats in the tentacles and then loosely tie them. He can not untie them but can still manage to get the treats out. It amuses him for 10-12 minutes which is great. Only downside I can see is that the octopus is going to get grungy soon because of the treats and the treats and the constant licking to remove them. Not sure how it will washup but we will try. Very soft and decent squeaky sound.

Durable
My dog loves it. She takes it to  bed every night. It is sturdy, doesn’t seem like it will rip easily.  Why did you pick this product vs others?: Trying to replace a raccoon she got 4 year’s ago.  Squeak: Only squeaks when I squeeze it.

As with all stuffed toys, supervision is needed.
I have a 6 month old standard size Golden Doodle who has gone through several raccoon toys. He loves their tails and to make them squeak. He knows the word raccoon, so when the last one “died”, I had to get another. This one is well made and has a magnificent tail. It did not take long, however, for Marvin to amputate two of the raccoon’s feet and pull the stuffing out. Luckily, I was able to get it from him before he swallowed any, and was able to sew up the injuries and return it to him for another round of play. I do not expect more from a stuffed toy, but I do not leave my dog alone with one and accept that supervision is always necessary. This raccoon is charming and when it “dies” I will probably buy it again. Five stars!

My Cardigan Corgi loves this toy!
My 33-lb. Cardigan Corgi loved her raccoon toy so much that she finally tore off its tail and I had to get her another one. Good toy for a medium-sized doggo.
