Purple Heart is an easy-care plant you'll love. Hardy enough for outdoors in frost-free areas and flowers throughout summer. If you like the bold purple tones on the leaves, you'll love the undersides even more.
Ideal for Beginner plant keepers or beyond.
Light Requirements: Bright Indirect Light is ideal, tolerates partial sun and a range of lower light levels.
Moisture & Soil Requirements: A semi-succulent so this plant prefers occasional watering and periods where it partially dries out. Use soil with good drainage - never let it get soggy. Reduce watering frequency in winter but provide lightly moist soil.
Growth & Nutrients: Forms upright clumps. Suits apartments or homes of any size. Feed with only small amounts of general-purpose fertiliser for containers from the start of spring each year to autumn when growth slows down.
Temperature, Humidity & Ambient requirements: Prefers warm environments inside, grows well in a range of humidity. Can grow in sheltered outdoor situations in warmer parts of NZ.
Toxicity: Toxic to pets and people. Don't chomp down on this ever.
