A classic and versatile tropical aroid with arrow-shaped juvenile leaves that transform into deeply lobed, multi-segmented forms as the plant matures and begins to climb. Adaptable and fast-growing, it thrives in a wide range of indoor conditions and is an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced collectors seeking lush, architectural foliage.
- Light: Low to bright indirect light; adapts well to lower light but produces more vigorous growth and vivid foliage under moderate to bright indirect conditions. Avoid direct sun.
- Temperature: Warm grower. Daytime 65–85°F (18–29°C), nighttime 60–68°F (15–20°C); avoid cold drafts or temperatures below 55°F (13°C).
- Humidity: 50–80%; tolerates average indoor humidity but benefits from elevated moisture for optimal growth.
- Watering: Water thoroughly when the top 1–2 inches of substrate dry out; ensure excellent drainage to prevent root rot.
Additional Notes
Native to humid tropical forests of Central and South America; best grown in a well-draining aroid mix of bark, perlite, and coco coir. Provide a moss pole or trellis to encourage larger, more dramatically lobed mature leaves.
