Monstera standleyana 'Albo Variegata', commonly known as the Cobra Plant, is a sought-after houseplant celebrated for its striking white or cream variegated leaves. This cultivar is a member of the Araceae family and is native to tropical regions of Central America.
Key Characteristics:
- Foliage: The leaves are elongated and lance-shaped, featuring deep green coloration with unique white or cream splashes, streaks, or bands. Each leaf exhibits a distinct variegation pattern, adding to its ornamental appeal.
- Growth Habit: As a climbing or trailing plant, it can reach impressive lengths, making it suitable for hanging baskets or training along supports.
- Size: Indoors, it typically grows up to 5 feet tall, though it can reach 20 feet in its native habitat.
Care Requirements:
- Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light. While it can tolerate lower light conditions, optimal variegation and growth are achieved under brighter light.
- Watering: Allow the top 2 inches of soil to dry out before watering. Ensure the pot has proper drainage to prevent waterlogging.
- Humidity: Prefers high humidity levels. Regular misting or placing the pot on a tray filled with water and pebbles can help maintain moisture levels.
- Temperature: Ideal temperatures range from 65°F to 80°F (18°C to 27°C). Protect from drafts and cold temperatures.
- Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix, such as one formulated for aroids or tropical plants.
