Roman Chamomile seeds are a rewarding option for home gardeners seeking a fragrant, low-growing herb with both ornamental and herbal value. Chamaemelum nobile is a perennial ground cover native to Europe and cultivated worldwide. It forms a dense, aromatic mat of finely divided foliage and small, white, daisy-like flowers, thriving in well-drained soils with full sun to partial shade.
Once established, plants grow thickly to interlock and can be lightly mowed to maintain a close-cropped, lawn-like appearance. Roman Chamomile is hardy in USDA Zones 4–9 and is often used between stepping stones, along paths, or in cottage gardens where its sweet apple-like fragrance is easily enjoyed. This herb is traditionally used in Western herbal medicine (TWM) as a stomachic and mild sedative, making it a versatile addition to herb gardens and wellness landscapes.
Direct sow in spring or fall. With minimal care, Roman Chamomile will establish itself as a resilient, pollinator-friendly groundcover that adds beauty and botanical function to your growing space.
