This species was circulated by South American nurseries as besseae aff. Although it has some superficial similarity to crystallinum and the true besseae from Bolivia, it's quite distinct in

Although it has some superficial similarity to crystallinum and the true besseae from Bolivia, it's quite distinct in many characteristics. Emergent growth opens up red and the backside stays red as well even as the leaf hardens. The color it imparted on offspring makes these prime candidates for any breeding program.
