Most cassia seed is sold already roasted, and it often arrives stale or tasting old. Kosbee keeps it raw, so you toast it fresh in a pan and brew it at its most fragrant. Each resealable pouch holds a generous 10.5 oz (300 g).

For generations, these small, glossy seeds were dry-roasted in a pan and brewed into a warm, nutty tea across East Asia — the toasty aroma filling the kitchen as they crackled. Kosbee brings them to you raw and fresh, never pre-roasted, so you can roast them to your own taste at home.

Raw Seeds You Roast Yourself

Pre-roasted cassia seed loses its aroma on the shelf and can taste flat or rancid by the time you brew it. Kosbee's seeds are raw and glossy, so you roast them fresh and decide how light or dark you want them.

They're a Product of Korea, clean and single-ingredient, in a 300 g bulk pouch.

What's in the Pouch

100% Korean Cassia Seed (Jue Ming Zi / 결명자, Cassia tora)
Raw, unroasted glossy seeds grown in Korea, with no additives.
Raw, So You Roast Them Fresh
Not pre-roasted and stale — roast them yourself, light to dark, for the freshest flavor.
A Nutrient-Dense Whole Seed
A naturally nutrient-dense seed that contains plant protein, calcium, iron, and potassium.
Caffeine-Free, 0 Sugar — Coffee Alternative
Dark-roasted and brewed strong, it's a nutty, caffeine-free stand-in for coffee.

The 10.5 oz (300 g) pouch is a generous bulk size; a serving is about 1 to 2 tablespoons (10 to 20 g).

How to Roast and Brew Korean Cassia Seed

First, roast: cassia seed should be roasted before brewing. Add the raw seeds to a dry pan (no oil) and toast over low-to-medium heat, stirring, until they crackle and smell nutty and toasty — about 5 to 10 minutes.

For tea, simmer 1 to 2 tablespoons (10 to 20 g) of roasted seeds in 1.5 to 2 quarts (1.5 to 2 liters) of water; boil, then steep on low for about 20 minutes, and chill it for a daily iced drink.

For a coffee alternative, roast the seeds darker and brew them strong in hot water — they take on a deep, nutty, espresso-like flavor, with no caffeine.

How to Enjoy It Safely

Cassia seed has a cooling character, so if you have a sensitive stomach or loose digestion, start with a small amount and a light brew, and enjoy it in moderation.

If you have low blood pressure or take prescription medication, talk to your doctor before drinking it regularly.

It is not recommended during pregnancy — if you are pregnant or nursing, please avoid it or talk to your doctor first.

Common Questions About Cassia Seed

Is this raw cassia seed from Korea?

Yes. Kosbee Korean Cassia Seed is raw, unroasted jue ming zi (Cassia tora) grown in Korea, with no additives and 0 sugar, in a generous 10.5 oz (300 g) bulk pouch. It's resealable and shipped from our New Jersey warehouse, so you get clean, glossy seeds you can roast fresh yourself.

How do I roast and brew cassia seed?

Roast the raw seeds in a dry pan over low-to-medium heat, stirring, until they crackle and smell nutty — about 5 to 10 minutes. Then simmer 1 to 2 tablespoons (10 to 20 g) in 1.5 to 2 quarts (1.5 to 2 liters) of water for about 20 minutes. Roast them darker for a coffee-like cup.

Is there anyone who should avoid it?

It is not recommended during pregnancy, so avoid it or talk to your doctor if pregnant or nursing. If you have a sensitive stomach or loose digestion, start with a small amount and a light brew. If you have low blood pressure or take medication, check with your doctor first.

Why buy raw instead of pre-roasted cassia seed?

Pre-roasted cassia seed often arrives stale or tasting old, and a lot of it is dark and over-roasted. Kosbee gives you fresh raw Korean seeds so you can roast them to your own taste — light for a mild tea, dark for a coffee-like cup — at peak freshness, as a Product of Korea.

The drawings were cute and funny.
Format: Hardcover
Kitten Ninja is a cute graphic novel for young readers, who love cats, and mischief. The Illustrations are adorable and well done, capturing Kitten Ninja battling it out against his enemies. The writing is easy to read and fun. Three short but entertaining stories about Kitten Ninja, as he faces off against his foes, the Spot, Ball of Yarn, and Snow. Here is what my eight year old thought of Kitten Ninja: "It was good. I liked it, and thought it was funny. The drawings were cute and funny. Kitten Ninja vs The Spot was my favorite." Kitten Ninja is perfect for fans of "Pets Rule!" books, "Bad Guys" books, or "Bad Kitty" books; and is the prequel to the "Cat Ninja" books, in these cute but funny tales. 5 ⭐ out of 5⭐ definitely recommend.

Excellent children's book with a collection of short stories and delightful panels that will entertain and take hold of anyone. The antics our kitten gets into results in tons of fun with some lessons to learn along the way. This would be a great read for any child wanting something beyond the typical picture book.

A good update for a fifty year geologist
Format: Hardcover
I wanted an update on plate tectonics as I was a geologist for 50 years and it was a theory back when I was in school particularly on mountain building I have been impressed so far I am about half way through the book and the book does a fine job of laying a solid foundation of physics and geochemistry that are the basics for the remainder of the book
