The genus Rosa belongs to the Rosacae family. There are about 2000 species spread throughout the temperate zones of the northern hemisphere and along the Pacific Ocean. The Rose is a shrub, usually erect but often also sarmentose and has leaves composed of 5 to 11 leaflets with simple or double toothed edges of a more or less dark green color with hairs depending on the species. The flowers are solitary and gathered in corymb inflorescences and are hermaphrodite or unisexual due to abortion of one sex. The number of petals varies depending on the species but also whether it is a cultivated or wild species (much less numerous in the latter). The calyx is made up of 5 sepals that in unfavorable climatic conditions can become very similar to leaves. The stem of roses is provided with prickles that are very different depending on the species. The fruit called rosehip is formed by the enlargement of the receptacle and the seeds ripen inside (called achenes, yellow or brown in color). The rosehip can be more or less large depending on the species, elongated, fleshy, variously colored and constitutes an excellent decorative element.

Flaky and Doesn't Handle Moisture Well
Size: 36 PACK
The plates have a tiny amount of twist in the center and quite a bit of doming when flexed. While the outer edges are entirely floppy. Most of the center is smooth, but there are rough patches that flake off paper pieces when rubbed with a spoon or from a lot of moisture from food. The flat surface (not the inner walls) was able to withstand still water for about 10 minutes before weakening, so I wouldn't use it for wet or very moist foods.

Thinner Than Chinet, Far More Expensive
Size: 12 PACK
These platters are about the same size and shape as Chinet platters and are reminiscent of them in construction and form. However, these plates are about half as thick as a Chinet and at $10 for just 12 plates, that makes them FAR more expensive than Chinet which a 30-pack of their platters can be had for less than $7. So no, I won't be getting any more of these much thinner, much more expensive plates when Chinet offers a product that's usually sturdier than you need for far less than these platters. If they were cheaper than Chinet by a fair amount I'd have given them 5 stars as they're thick enough for most uses and thumbs up for compostability, but I have to call out the overpriced nature of them.
