Fernleaf Full Moon Japanese Maple (Acer japonicum 'Aconitifolium') is a small, rounded tree known for deeply divided, fernlike leaves that deliver brilliant orange, red, and gold color in fall. Its bold texture, spreading form, and excellent cold tolerance make it a prized choice for woodland gardens and shaded borders.
Distinctive Features
'Aconitifolium' produces large, finely cut leaves resembling those of a fern or aconite. Spring foliage emerges green, followed by small clusters of red flowers that add early interest. Autumn brings a spectacular mix of fiery hues. The tree matures to 10 to 15 feet tall and wide with a layered, spreading canopy that provides strong visual depth.
