Red Ruby Chard is a stunning and versatile leafy green, known for its bright red stems and tender, dark green leaves. This highly nutritious variety is perfect for sautéing, steaming, or adding to fresh salads, delivering a mild, earthy flavor with a hint of sweetness. Thriving in full sun to partial shade and well-draining soil, Red Ruby Chard matures in just 50-60 days and can be harvested as baby greens or full-sized leaves. The upright plants are both ornamental and productive, adding a splash of vibrant color to garden beds, borders, or containers. Red Ruby Chard is a cool-season crop that performs well in both spring and fall, tolerating light frosts and extending the growing season. Regular harvesting encourages continuous growth, providing a steady supply of fresh greens throughout the season. With its combination of beauty, flavor, and nutritional value, Red Ruby Chard is a favorite for home gardeners and chefs alike. Whether you’re growing it for its culinary versatility or its striking appearance, this variety is a must-have for any vegetable garden.

Chard - Red Ruby - Beta vulgaris (Cicla group)

Biennial Heirloom. Red Ruby is a popular red-stemmed chard. The dark green leaves have crimson stalks and veins. Also called Rhubarb Chard, it makes a nice ornamental addition to any garden and has been in use since 1857. Eat fresh or use like spinach.

Did You Know? Chard contains vitamins A, C, E, and B6, as well as many minerals.

Soil & Water: Chard prefers moderate soil with plenty of added organic matter and even, moderate water throughout the season.

Planting & Growing: Start seeds indoors 1-2 weeks before the last frost, and keep planting every 2 weeks for succession harvest. Plant after spring frosts to avoid bolting. Chard tolerates light frosts when young, and moderate freezes once established. It can also adapt to warmer summer temperatures.

no substitute for Aveeno
Pros: There's no smell (yay--I don't get why folks say it smells like oatmeal; it doesn't, it just smells like it doesn't have perfume added), and it spreads well. BUT: it's too thin and doesn't last well enough. Had my first eczema flair in years while using this. I'm going back to Aveeno fragrance-free. At least I tried.

its ok
its ok, has a lot of chemicals in it, but not 2% of colloidal oatmeal which is recommended for an eczema lotion. i like this brand because its cruelty free but this is not great for eczema. i actually like that it is not thick, but it doesnt calm my dry itchy skin very much.

It’s a great all-round lotion, it does what it says it does.
It is one of the lightest moisturizers I’ve used, perfect for whole body. Though, naturally, using more makes it more moisturizing, and it does have a big pump. It spreads and absorbs well. It is not sticky, but silky. It calms itchy, irritated skin. It’s pH-balanced. It has very nice ingredients. It has a lot of nutrients skin needs. It is fragrance-free, though the aromatic alcohol preservatives impart a slight rose-almond odor. It’s a good price. It’s a nice bottle and pump. However, it would be nice if it were more reliably and widely available.

Sticky and unpleasant smelling
It’s thin and watery and leaves a sticky feeling on your skin that makes you want to wash your hands. It’s fragrance free but somehow has an unpleasant smell. The regular 365 brand fragrance free “moisturizing Lotion” that I normally buy when it’s available is MUCH better
