Aglaonema rotundum is a popular houseplant known for its broad, oval leaves, often marked with attractive patterns. This plant adds a touch of greenery and elegance to any space, thanks to its glossy leaves and sturdy stems.
Origin: Native to tropical regions of Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia and Malaysia, this plant thrives in warm, humid environments.
Growth: Aglaonema rotundum is a slow to moderate growing plant, reaching about 30-50 cm in height. It forms a compact and dense clump, making it ideal for small spaces or as a tabletop plant.
Flowers: Although primarily grown for its foliage, Aglaonema rotundum can produce small, insignificant spadix flowers. These flowers are usually hidden by the leaves and are not the plant's main attraction.
Light: This plant prefers moderate to low indirect light. It can tolerate low light conditions, making it suitable for dimly lit rooms or offices.
Watering: Keep the soil slightly moist throughout the year. Water regularly but allow the surface to dry out slightly between waterings. Avoid leaving the plant in standing water to prevent root rot.
Substrate: A well-draining potting soil is ideal for Aglaonema rotundum. Use a houseplant potting mix with a little perlite to improve drainage, but avoid sand.
Toxicity: Aglaonema rotundum is toxic to pets and humans if ingested. It is recommended to keep it out of reach of children and pets.
