Cotyledon pendens — also known as “Cliff Cotyledon” or “Little Pickles” — is a beautiful trailing succulent native to South Africa. It’s a hanging succulent that produces cascading stems covered with fleshy, powdery leaves and charming bell-shaped flowers.

🌿 General Description

·         Scientific name: Cotyledon pendens

·         Family: Crassulaceae

·         Common names: Cliff Cotyledon, Little Pickles

·         Type: Trailing/tumbling succulent

·         Growth habit: Hanging stems that can reach up to 2 feet (60 cm) long.

·         Leaves: Thick, teardrop-shaped, grey-green with a powdery coating (farina) and sometimes red tips.

·         Flowers: Orange to red, bell-shaped blooms appearing mainly in late spring to summer.

☀️ Light Requirements

·         Prefers bright sunlight or partial sun.

·         Indoors: Place near a sunny window (south or west-facing).

·         Outdoors: Needs at least 4–6 hours of sunlight daily for compact growth and vibrant leaf color.

·         Avoid sudden full sun exposure to prevent leaf burn.

💧 Watering

·         Follow the “soak and dry” method:

o    Water deeply when the soil is completely dry.

o    Let excess water drain fully.

·         Reduce watering in winter when the plant goes semi-dormant.

·         Overwatering causes root rot and leaf drop.

🪴 Soil

·         Needs well-draining succulent or cactus soil mix.

·         You can make your own mix using:

o    2 parts cactus mix or sandy soil

o    1 part perlite or pumice

🌡️ Temperature & Humidity

·         Thrives in 18–28°C (65–82°F).

·         Protect from frost — not cold hardy below 5°C (41°F).

·         Prefers dry air; avoid high humidity environments.

🌸 Fertilizer

·         Feed once a month in spring and summer with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer.

·         Avoid fertilizing in fall and winter.

Love Is Not Enough. Skill Makes It Work.
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
I genuinely loved this book. Debra’s core idea is simple but powerful: most relational problems are not caused by a lack of love, but by a lack of skill. That shift in perspective changes everything. It moves the conversation from “Do I care?” to “Am I communicating care in a healthy, effective way?” What I appreciated most is how practical the book is. It tackles real-life issues like triggers, communication, emotional intelligence, boundaries, and vulnerability, and turns them into skills you can actually practice. The emphasis on personal ownership was especially impactful for me. Instead of focusing on fixing other people, it invites you to ask, “What’s my role?” That question alone can transform a relationship. This is not a dense academic read. It is accessible, actionable, and deeply helpful. Whether you are married, dating, leading, or simply trying to grow, there is something here for you. If you want stronger relationships and greater emotional maturity, this book is well worth your time.

A must read, One of the most powerful books Ive read.
Format: Paperback
This book has not just impacted me personally, it has influenced my leadership as well. I found so much value in it that I brought it into my workplace. We’ve started using the conversation cards as icebreakers during team meetings, and the shift in engagement has been noticeable. The questions create space for authenticity, vulnerability, and deeper connection among staff. What used to be routine check-ins have become meaningful conversations. I am even considering using People Skills as our next workplace book club selection because its principles are so relevant to leadership, ministry, and team dynamics. The skills outlined in this book strengthen emotional intelligence, improve communication, and support healthier work culture, all while remaining rooted in faith. This book reminded me that loving people well is intentional work. It takes awareness, humility, and practice. People Skills has helped me grow in all three areas. I am grateful for what I’ve learned and highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to strengthen their relationships, lead more effectively, and become a better reflection of God’s love in everyday interactions.
