In our research, we were surprised to find that it seems to be a prized bean of many families in the Nantahala Valley area. The plants produce numerous, relatively short runners (thus the name "half-runner"), and can produce many pounds of beans per plant. Pick often when beans are small, as they become tough if allowed to mature on the vine. Plants will do best on a short trellis or fence.
