Lithops, commonly known as Living Stones, are fascinating and unique succulents native to the arid regions of southern Africa. Their remarkable stone-like appearance helps them blend into their natural surroundings, protecting them from herbivores. Lithops come in a variety of colors, patterns, and textures, making them highly desirable among succulent collectors. These small yet striking plants grow in pairs of fleshy leaves that store water, allowing them to survive in extremely dry conditions.

Care Guide for Lithops

🌞 Light:
Lithops require plenty of bright, indirect sunlight. A south-facing window or a grow light is ideal. Too much direct sun can cause sunburn, while too little light can make them grow elongated and weak.

💧 Watering:
Lithops have a unique watering cycle. Water sparingly and only when the plant is actively growing (spring and early autumn). Avoid watering during summer and winter dormancy, as excess moisture can cause rot. A good rule of thumb is to water only when the leaves start to wrinkle slightly.

🌡️ Temperature & Humidity:
Lithops prefer warm temperatures between 18–30°C (65–86°F) and should be kept in a dry environment. They do not tolerate frost, so if temperatures drop below 10°C (50°F), keep them indoors.

🪴 Soil & Potting:
Use a well-draining, sandy cactus mix with added perlite or pumice to improve drainage. Lithops prefer shallow pots with drainage holes to prevent root rot.

🌱 Growth & Dormancy:
Lithops grow slowly and go through a yearly cycle where old leaves dry out and are replaced by new ones. Do not water when they are shedding their old leaves—this is part of their natural growth process.

🌼 Blooming:
Mature Lithops may produce daisy-like flowers in late summer or autumn, typically in shades of white or yellow. The flowers open during the day and close at night.

⚠️ Common Issues:

  • Overwatering: The most common cause of Lithops death. Always ensure the soil is completely dry before watering.
  • Stretching (Etiolation): If your Lithops become elongated, they need more light.
  • Rot: If your Lithops become mushy or discolored, they may be suffering from rot due to excess moisture.

Lithops are low-maintenance yet rewarding plants, perfect for succulent enthusiasts who enjoy their unique beauty and fascinating growth cycle. With proper care, they can live for decades, continuously surprising you with their mesmerizing transformations!

Great for chewers!
Size: Large, Color: Ball-Blue
We have a super high energy one year old pup who destroys practically every toy she gets. This one is excellent! It makes a fun but not annoying sound and she hasn’t been able to destroy it yet. The test hole is a fun addition to keep her busy.

My Dog Loved It—Until It Stopped Working
Size: Large, Color: Ball-Red
I purchased this treat-dispensing dog toy for my German Shepherd, and for the first couple of days it worked exactly as advertised. When rolled or tossed, it made an engaging sound that immediately caught my dog’s attention and encouraged him to interact with the toy to get the treats out. He absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, after only a few days, the sound feature stopped working. Then it mysteriously started working again for a short period, so I thought the issue had resolved itself. However, it has now stopped completely. No matter how much I shake, roll, or toss the toy, it no longer makes any sound. I went out of town and didn’t realize the return window had passed while I was gone. By the time I returned, the return deadline had already expired, which was disappointing because I would have returned it when the problem first appeared. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend purchasing this toy. While many of the reviews seem positive, perhaps I received a defective unit. It’s disappointing that it stopped functioning properly after barely a month of use. That said, my dog genuinely enjoyed it when it was working, and I would appreciate it if the manufacturer would stand behind their product and offer a replacement as a courtesy. I would be happy to return the defective toy. If a replacement performed as intended, I would gladly reconsider my opinion. For now, however, I am very disappointed with the functionality and reliability of this product.

Powerful little ball
The ball is well designed, made, and is durable. It is functional and easy to turn on. It has a good amount of power and movement to capture my pets attention. It moves easily on wooden, laminated, and carpeted floors. The material is hard which makes it not break down easily when bitten or chewed. The colors are appealing and attractive.

Too big and heavy for my dog. Spins more often than it rolls. Good material.
The first time we used this, which honestly took a bit too long to figure out, our dog was excited and immediately kicked it under the couch. I guess that makes sense, you really have no idea where this thing is going to end up. I did fish it out after a bit, and it needed a charge. After reassembly, the ball would only spin in circles until it was hit. That's probably just as well, as it was still engaging and less likely to roll away. The issue is this is large and heavy, larger than a tennis ball and heavier than it looks. That's fine for big dogs, but it isn't great for small dogs like Boston terriers or frenchies, and definitely useless for toy breeds. My dog was able to lift it with the module removed, and that's how he prefers it now. The outer TPU layer is strong and grippy, so it's not a total waste. It looks a little rougher than the pictures appear but my dog doesn't mind. I get it... I"ve worked with TPU before and it's a temperamental material. The price is quite low, but not if you aren't getting use out of the mechanical aspect. This is a good value for the right dog: a medium dog with a snout - maybe a sheltie; definitely a golden. For others, a smaller version would be nice.
