Our Non-GMO Cover Crop Mix is a great choice for home gardens! It contains a mixture of several different seeds that will establish quickly to revitalize your garden and improve soil health after a busy season. Prepare your soil for next season's growth with rich nutrients and improved soil health with our Cover Crop Mix!
BENEFITS:
Our Cover Crop Mix is a blend of triticale, peas, oats, vetch, annual ryegrass, and crimson clover. It provides one of the most efficient and economical ways to boost soil fertility and structure while providing weed control in your garden's off-season. Crimson clover, oats, triticale, and annual ryegrass protect the soil surface from wind and water erosion, maintaining a nutrient-rich garden foundation. Peas, vetch, and crimson clover enrich soil by fixing atmospheric nitrogen into a usable form for future plants to utilize. Before your next growing season, plow or till under to release stored nutrients, improve soil tilth, and increase valuable microbial biodiversity in your soil.
PURE SEED:
34.85% Hyton Triticale
27.40% Peas
24.89% Oats
8.99% Common Vetch
1.99% Annual Ryegrass
1.00% Crimson Clover
0.88% Inert Matter
DIRECTIONS:
Sow 4 pounds of Cover Crop Mix per 1,000 square feet in the fall or when your growing season is over. Use a drop spreader, broadcast spreader, or broadcast seed by hand and lightly rake into the top 1/4 inch of soil. For a more even coverage, make two seeding passes over the garden at a right angle to each other. If you seed before the fall rains begin, the seeded area should be watered lightly until the seed germinates.
For nutrient recycling, cut it back before it goes to seed or 4-6 weeks before the next planting season. Till or work it under the soil so the nutrients are released into the soil as it decomposes. For no-till options, cut and cover the Cover Crop Mix with heavy black plastic 6-8 weeks before planting your next crop.
