We typically recommend performing the Cake Test, as it's free to do as long as you have a wooden stick, but it can have varying results depending on soil type. The best way to ensure your soil is adequately moist, and therefore protect your new tree, is by using a moisture a meter!
Comes in 24" and 15" sizes. Size measures the length of the meter's stem. Bigger trees will require the larger meter in order to get a more accurate measurement of the root ball.
