Monstera adansonii, also known as "Swiss Cheese Vine," is a popular houseplant appreciated for its unique foliage and easy care requirements.

Native to Central and South America, Monstera adansonii is a climbing vine that can grow up to 20 feet long in its natural habitat. The plant features heart-shaped, glossy green leaves perforated with large, irregular holes, which is how it got its nickname, "Swiss Cheese Vine." The leaves are about 2-3 inches long and 1-2 inches wide, growing on long, thin, and flexible stems.

Monstera adansonii was first described by French botanist Michel Adanson in 1763. The plant is named after him, and the species "adansonii" honours his contributions to botany.

Monstera adansonii is an epiphyte which grows on other plants or trees in its natural environment. It also has aerial roots that help it climb and cling to its host. However, it can also be grown in a pot with a mossy pole or trellis to support its growth.

This plant thrives in bright, indirect light but can tolerate some shade. It prefers a warm and humid environment with consistent moisture. It's important not to let the soil dry out completely, but it should also not be overly wet. A well-draining soil mix and regular fertilization during the growing season can help keep the plant healthy.

Monstera adansonii makes a great houseplant because it is low maintenance and adds an attractive tropical touch to any indoor space. Its unique foliage adds visual interest and can help purify the air by removing toxins. The plant is also relatively easy to propagate by stem cuttings, making it an excellent choice for lovers who want to expand their collection.

The Monstera Monkey Mask can be trained to climb up a pole indoors or be left so the leaves grow and spill over the sides of a pot.

Monstera adansonii care

This houseplant is easy to care for and suitable for beginners. Most of these plants die from overwatering, be a little mean, and it will thrive.

Where should I put this Monstera?

Monstera Obliqua likes a humid atmosphere, bright but not in full sun.

How should I water my Monstera adansonii?

Should I feed the Monkey Mask?

You can give it a feed once a month in spring and summer - try our vegan, organic plant food.

Is it pet safe?

No, it can be toxic to pets if eaten.

What size is the plant?

W5.5cm x H15cm plus - not huge but big enough to make an impact.

Good stuff, but watch the temp
Model: NewSLS50_52
I used this in my single cab pickup truck (89 ford.) It only took half the box (10 sheets or 25 square feet) to do the floors, but I bought the big box because I plan to do the doors, back wall, and maybe the roof as well. One thing I learned is that the temperature matters when you’re doing the installation. It was around 55F when I started in the evening, and when it dipped down into the 40s the sheets would not stick to the metal, and were hard to compress with the roller. That’s why I ended up only doing the floors and not any vertical surfaces; i will have to wait for a nice hot day. The other thing is that the foil layer on top is razor sharp at the edges, definitely wear gloves! I didn’t notice until after but I have little papercuts all over my fingers. Aside from those things, the install was easy and straightforward. The sheets cut easily with scissors, and any goo that ends up on your hands or scissors can be cleaned up with acetone (nail polish remover), or lacquer thinner. I would use this stuff again.

This will work but prep is key!
I have an older RV that the gelcoat has dulled and is oxidized, but otherwise in good shape. I have buffed and polished in the past only for it to last a short time. I was looking up different products to try and this one has such good reviews, I thought I would give it a try. I bought the kit with the Poliglow and the Poliprep, with the scrubber and the microfiber glove. I started with the poliprep and it did a great job of gettting the streaks and black marks off. You spend a lot of time scrubbing to your likeness because anything that is still on the gelcoat when you apply the poliglow, it will be locked in there. The Poliglow is like a clearcoat that goes over the gelcoat. You have to build up layers and here are some of the tips and tricks I figured out that really helped my finished RV look great. First, make sure the applicator stays damp, this keeps the poliglow more uniform across the glove. Also, stick it in a zip lock bag when not using, you do not want it to dry out while you are using it. I found out that applying this in direct sunlight in warm temps, is the best method. This allows the poliglow to dry really fast. The first 3 or 4 layers will look streaky and dull but this is ok and as you build up the layers, the shine will come back. I found if you do this when its cooler, the layers do not dry as quick and you will get some permanent streaking or running. I had to remove a section I did in the evening because I noticed this. When in direct sunlight, this gave me the best results with no streaking or running. It dries fast and you can keep working. Like it says, do not do big sections at a time, keep it to small what you can reach sections and build those up and move on. As far as how much to buy? I have a 40 ft toy hauler and I got to kits and I had just enough to finish the whole thing minus the nose cap. I have Durabak on the nose cap, so I dont need to worry about that. I ended up buying one more bottle of the poliglow to have for my maintenance coats. Overall, I am pleased with how my 10 year old RV looks and other than some of the decals show age, it looks new again. If I were to buy a new RV, I would put this on right away and preserve the whole RV including the decals. Its not too expensive and its a lot of work, especially the prep, but it does end up with great results.

Excellent shine
Excellent line of products. Looking at the picture, you can see what the camper looked like before the Poli Glow. To the left of the window is the after Poli Glow. It takes some elbow grease (follow instructions well) but well worth it.

Camping enthusiast approved
One bottle covered my 20ft camping trailer 4 coats and with a little remaining for future touch ups. It definitely increases the gloss. I'm glad I didn't waste my time with wax. This is like an easy wipe on clear coat. I will report back in the future for longevity.
