Grow Oregano From Herb Seeds: To get a jump start, sow Oregano seeds indoors 6 weeks prior to the end of frost season. For areas with a longer growing season, sow Oregano herb seeds in well-drained to dry, neutral to alkaline soil in full sun after danger of last frost is over.

Because the seeds are small, they should be sown on the surface. Oregano seeds need light to germinate. Water by misting until the seeds start to sprout.  Under optimal conditions, Oregano usually germinates in 14 days.
