It's no wonder calathea's are such a popular houseplant, with their large variety of beautiful markings, each variety different to the last they add a gorgeous vibrancy to your home! Calathea Makoyana's is nicknamed peacock plant, the leaves markings are similar to that of a peacock tail! 

How to care for your calathea 

Water: They must be kept in damp soil at all times, but definitely do not allow the plant to sit in water or in very wet soil. Think little and often as a watering policy.

Light: Calathea need plenty of diffused light however direct sunlight will cause the leaves to fade and lose their markings.

Humidity: They enjoy humidity, brown leaf tips indicate that humidity is too low.

Temperature: They like warmth, about 20 degrees C.

The shelves sag away from the wall overtime

Although the wood quality and finish of the shelf are clean and well-made, the main issue is that the shelves begin to sag over time while holding around 10 pounds, even though the product listing claims they can support up to 20 pounds. They may perform better on a brick wall, but on drywall you should be cautious. To fix the problem, I had to purchase floating shelf brackets for support, which solved the sagging issue. However, this defeats the purpose of the “floating” aesthetic. Since the shelf is in my bedroom, I can overlook it, but I personally wouldn’t install these in a common area if I wanted a clean floating look.
