Growing Zones & Bulb Size

Korean Red Asiatic hardneck grows well in both cold and mild climates, but bulb size varies by region. In northern climates bulbs tend to stay smaller, while in mild southern climates they size up considerably — for the largest bulbs, warmer growing regions are ideal. Planting Instructions

Plant in fall, typically September through November depending on your region. Break bulbs into individual cloves just before planting. Set cloves 2–3 inches deep, pointed end up, spaced 6 inches apart in rows 12 inches apart. Mulch heavily after planting to protect over winter. Harvest the following summer when the lower 3–4 leaves have browned.

Storage & Curing

After harvest, cure Korean Red in a warm, dry, well-ventilated space for 3–4 weeks. Once cured, store in a cool, dry location with good airflow. Properly cured bulbs store for approximately 4–6 months.
