Mentzelia lindleyi, commonly known as Lindley's blazingstar or evening star, is a species of flowering plant in the family Loasaceae. It is native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, typically found in desert and arid regions.
Lindley's blazingstar is notable for its striking yellow flowers, which bloom primarily in the evening, hence the common name "evening star." The flowers open late in the day and attract nocturnal pollinators such as moths. The plant itself can grow up to several feet in height and has lance-shaped leaves. It often thrives in sandy or gravelly soils in desert habitats.
This species plays a role in its ecosystem by providing a food source for nocturnal pollinators and potentially serving as habitat for other desert organisms. Additionally, it contributes to the biodiversity and ecological balance of its native habitat.
