About the painting:
The lilies are blooming at my favorite place to see flowers: Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.I just love their soft white petals and the way they contrast with their dark green leaves. I took several photos of the Easter lilies and white lilies in bloom as my references for this pretty little painting.
I decided to use black as the background to give the whites the nice contrast that I like. I used layers of grey and white to paint the lily petals. I used greens and blue greens for the leaves, and a touch of purples for shadows. The stamens are painted with browns and dots of orange and yellows.
This is an original acrylic painting (not a copy or a print) signed by the artist Kathy Sibley.
