Bring bold beauty and pollinator charm to your garden with Organic Maltese Cross Red Flower Seeds 'Swallowtail Butterflies'. Known for its radiant clusters of scarlet-red blooms, this classic perennial attracts butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds, making it a must-have for wildflower meadows, cottage gardens, and naturalized landscapes. With its upright growth habit and showy blossoms, Maltese Cross provides a striking vertical accent, perfect for adding height and vibrant color to garden beds. This easy-to-grow, low-maintenance plant thrives in sunny conditions and blooms from late spring to midsummer, ensuring your garden stays lively and full of life.

🌱 Plant Characteristics

  • Plant Type: Perennial flowering plant.
  • Height: Grows 24–36 inches tall with sturdy, upright stems.
  • Flower Color: Eye-catching scarlet-red blooms in dense clusters.
  • Bloom Time: Blooms from late spring through midsummer, providing weeks of vibrant color.
  • Uses: Perfect for wildflower meadows, cottage gardens, pollinator gardens, and borders.
  • Attracts: Butterflies, hummingbirds, and beneficial pollinators.

🌞 Growing Tips

  • Light Requirements: Prefers full sun for best blooming performance. Can tolerate partial shade but with reduced flower production.
  • Soil: Thrives in well-drained, moderately fertile soil with a neutral to slightly acidic pH.
  • Watering: Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, especially during dry spells. Once established, it shows moderate drought tolerance.
  • Spacing: Plant seeds or seedlings 12–18 inches apart to ensure proper air circulation.
  • Hardiness Zones: Hardy in USDA Zones 3–8, tolerating cold winters and warm summers.

How to Sow:

  1. Start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost, or direct sow in the garden after all danger of frost has passed.
  2. Sow seeds 1/8 inch deep in prepared soil and lightly cover.
  3. Keep soil moist until germination occurs (typically 10–14 days).
  4. Transplant seedlings outdoors once they are sturdy and have several leaves.

Pro Tip: Deadhead spent blooms to encourage additional flowering and prevent unwanted self-seeding.

🌼 Garden Uses

  • Wildflower Meadows: Naturalizes beautifully in open spaces, creating a pollinator haven with bright red blooms.
  • Cottage Gardens: A classic choice for traditional gardens, pairing perfectly with other summer bloomers.
  • Pollinator Gardens: Attracts butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds with its nectar-rich flowers.
  • Borders & Backdrops: Adds vertical interest and a bold pop of color to garden beds.
  • Cut Flowers: Stems with vibrant red blooms are perfect for fresh floral arrangements.

  • Shasta Daisy (Leucanthemum superbum): Bright white blooms contrast perfectly with vibrant red Maltese Cross.
  • Lupine (Lupinus): Spikes of blue and purple flowers complement the vertical structure.
  • Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea): Adds soft pink tones and attracts additional pollinators.
  • Foxglove (Digitalis): Tall, elegant spires balance the clusters of Maltese Cross.
  • Yarrow (Achillea millefolium): Drought-tolerant and easy to grow, yarrow offers a beautiful textural contrast.

The Epson F170 has been ideal for getting started with sublimation. It's easy to use, prints vibrant and defined colors, and has allowed me to personalize various projects with excellent results. As a beginner, it has given me a lot of confidence to learn and create without complications. I definitely recommend it for anyone starting out in sublimation.

No returns and no support. If it doesn't work properly, too bad.
Style: Printer & Inks, Style: Printer & Inks
I was fairly happy with my Epson ET 2800, but was told that I'd get better colors with the F170. So I bit the bullet. The installation went smoothly and I was printing in short order. It was when I started printing items that had some dark gray that I noticed the problem. It was printing green. I contacted Epson tech support and they answered the phone almost immediately. (And how rare is that??) The woman I spoke with seemed to be familiar with the problem and advised me to modify the printer preferences and change the color correction from "ICM" to "No color correction". Well, it wasn't printing green anymore. Now the grays were brown. At this point, she ran out of ideas and gave me an email address for the second level of tech support and asked if I'd send a photo of the printed fabrics showing the problem. I did. That was over three weeks ago. I've sent a couple of followup emails, but they're ignoring me. But the best news was discovering that there are no returns on this product. I didn't think that was a thing with Amazon and I've never had any problems before. So now the 30-day return window is about to elapse and it appears that I'm stuck with an oversized doorstop. In the photo I'm including with this review, the fabric on the upper-left was printed with my Epson ET 2800. On the upper right, the F170 with ICM color correction. On the bottom, the F170 with no color correction.

Epson SureColor F170 Sublimation Printer Rocks!
Style: Printer & Inks, Style: Printer & Inks
TI’m a newbie at sublimation, and this is my first sublimation printer. I love it! I can’t wait to make more things! I like that it’s not too large, but still can print up to 8.5x14”. The quality seems to be really good, but I also don’t have any other printer to compare it to. This was my very first project! I’m very happy with it so far!
