An evergreen culinary herb growing in a bushy habit, which flowers in Spring. Hardy in mild UK winters down to -10°C.

Pick a sunny, well-drained and sheltered spot and your garden will soon be full of the fragrance of rosemary! This plant will flower in Spring and is recognisable for its fragrance, but the most notable aspect of Rosemary is its use in cooking, and this variety is no exception. Good to harvest year-round, rosemary adds flavour to your cooking, scent to your garden and even attracts bees- what's not to love! It's a good idea to pune back after it's finished flowering and, of course, these cuttings can be dried for culinary use too.

Perennial
Herb: bushy growth habit
Flowers March - May, foliage you can harvest year-round

Scientific Name
Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary from the office/workshop) 'Green Rosi'

Common Name
Rosemary

Origin
Originates in the Mediterranean region.

Pruning Tips
Trim back annually in late spring or early summer, once it has finished flowering, to keep it in a neat size and shape.

Wildlife Value
Nectar for butterflies, nectar & pollen for bees including honey bees, bumblebees and some solitary species (pics of Macropis species, red mason bee). It flowers early so is a good food source when the weather is still cool! It may even protect bees from mites. Also good for Bombylius bee flies.

Positioning
Full sun is best for this plant; remember, it's adapted to the Mediterranean so is used to a little more sun than in the UK! It will also appreciate some shelter.

Water
Water in dry weather; this shouldn't be too often in the UK. Young plants can suffer in winter if their roots are soggy for long periods, so make sure especially when you first put it outside that it can drain well, whether in a container or straight into soil.

Soil
Ensure this plant is in a soil that drains well; it can struggle in clay, especially over winter. If you have a cold clay soil, mix in bark or grit before planting, or plant in a container.

Food
Feed with a general fertiliser during the growing season to help this plant grow.

Pet-safe
Yes, this plant has no reported toxicity- and, of course, can be used as seasoning in your cooking!

Sprouts Top Tips
Rosemary can suffer in the cold and wet of a British winter, so bring your plants under cover to protect them in cold winters.

Not a new personality type -- one of the 16 Myers Briggs types
Format: Kindle
The author claims to have identified a personality type that differs from the 16 types identified in the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Among those 16 MBTI types, 8 are extraverts and 8 are introverts. The author refers to those 8 introvert types as a single personality category, and then he tries to differentiate them from the type he proposes: the Otrovert. However, his description of the Otrovert is a detailed, accurate description of one of the 8 Myers Briggs introvert types: the INTJ. So he has not identified a new personality type; he has simply isolated one of the 16 MBTI types and elaborated on it. He does an excellent job of explaining the nuances of the INTJ personality, but he has not identified something new. I would have rated this book 5 stars if it had been presented as a closer look at the INTJ type. The book "Type Talk" by Kroeger and Theusen is the preeminent authority on the MBTI, written by people who qualify instructors to administer the MBTI instrument--find it on Amazon at this link: https://www.amazon.com/Type-Talk-Personality-Types-Determine/dp/0440507049/ref=sr_1_1?

the book for me
Format: Kindle
This has been the best book I’ve read in 2026. I finally understand who I am. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wondered what’s wrong with me. Turns out …. Nothing! I have struggled with the constant message of “you need community” and the internal desire that cringes at the thought of it. Isolation is bad but select community is perfect. No more shame for needing alone time or just wanting to stay home. I’m normal - just an outlier ! Thank you so much for the valuable insight that has given me such revelation and relief about how my mind and emotions work 💜

Excellent introduction
Format: Kindle
This is a well-written introduction for quickly learning how to use Ollama to run LLMs on your local machine. The book is light on theory but very good for facilitating hands-on experimentation. Only minimal Python experience is needed. Contrary to another reviewer's comment, the source code, which can be copied from the Kindle version of the text, is also readily available by emailing the author at the address provided. The final exercise in the book leads you through generating a RAG application to use Ollama to process your own documents without having to make them available to an external server.
