  The "Silver" cultivar is prized for its alligator-skin texture and intense silvery-blue sheen. As the plant matures, the leaves develop dramatic fenestrations (holes) and deep lobes, giving it a skeletal, spider-like appearance. Unlike many aroids that lose their texture as they grow, the Amydrium's puckered "bullate" surface only becomes more pronounced with age.
  
  Like most members of the Araceae family, this plant produces an inflorescence consisting of a spadix and a spathe. In the wild, these are often inconspicuous and greenish-white.
