Philodendron brandtianum is a climbing species with small, heart-shaped juvenile leaves marked in strong silver-grey between the veins. It can trail when young, but its natural habit is appressed climbing, with stems growing close to trunks or other vertical surfaces.
Juvenile leaves stay smaller and strongly silver-marked, with green showing around the veins and margins. Older climbing growth may produce larger, greener leaves with a lighter silver pattern than the juvenile growth usually sold as a houseplant.

The juvenile leaves are green, heart-shaped and overlaid with silver. Older climbing growth may become larger and greener, with less of the heavy silver pattern seen on juvenile leaves. On support, the plant can make a denser column of juvenile growth; left to hang, stems often stay thinner and leaves smaller.
Philodendron brandtianum support and leaf care
- Support: Use a slim pole, plank, or textured stake for its smaller leaves and close-climbing habit.
- Light: Give bright, diffused light to support denser growth. Direct sun can mark the thinner juvenile leaves.
- Temperature: Keep warm, ideally around 18–28°C, and avoid cold draughts or chilled windows.
- Watering: Let the top 25–40% of the pot dry before watering. This species tolerates slight drying better than a constantly wet root zone.
- Substrate: Use a loose mix with bark, perlite, and a moisture-holding organic base so fine roots get both air and even moisture.
- Humidity: Average indoor humidity is often tolerated, but higher humidity reduces dry tips and helps fresh leaves open smoothly.
- Repotting: Move up one pot size when roots fill the container, the mix dries very quickly, or the support needs a steadier base.
- Feeding: Feed lightly during active growth with a balanced houseplant fertilizer, avoiding strong doses on dry roots.
- Propagation: Propagate from stem cuttings with at least one node; rooted tips and sections with aerial roots establish fastest.
- Pruning: Trim long stems above a node to encourage fuller growth, then root the cuttings to thicken the pot.
- Semi-hydroponics: Suitable for mineral or semi-hydro setups if transitioned gradually and kept with airflow around the crown.

- Weak silver pattern: Check light first. Very low light can make growth thinner and less defined.
- Crispy tips: Often linked to dry air, irregular watering, or salt buildup. Flush the mix occasionally and avoid overfeeding.
- Thin, stretched stems: Move the plant closer to bright filtered light and give it a surface to climb.
- Yellowing after watering: Inspect the roots and lower stem. Fine or compacted soil can stay wet long enough to cause root stress.
- Pests: Check leaf undersides, petioles and stem nodes for spider mites, thrips, scale or mealybugs, especially on dense growth.
Philodendron brandtianum is harmful if eaten and may irritate skin or eyes through sap contact. Keep it away from pets and rinse your hands after pruning.

MUFON vs. Stephen Greer

How it relates- this book was once sold (now out of stock) by mufon on their website- out of the many books that could've been chosen.
I see a lengthy review by an obvious Stephen Greer fan. I, too, have seen his films. I was also once a member of Mufon in which paying that membership fee allowed me the extra little bit of privilege to attend web seminars/ community zoom meetings.
I participated in some of these meetings to fully feel and understand what I was paying for, honestly.
I joined mufon as a Stephen Greer fan myself so I was excited to use the opportunity to ask others of their thoughts about him and his films during one of these meetings. What I got was silence and if anything, a slight scoff. He was quickly dismissed and I was left with my own conclusion.
This book is like most say- very interesting. I think both the author and Stephen Greer may have some things right but but all.
My first instinctive question about this book was "how does he know this?" Right out of the gate, I'm assuming it's pure sci-fi but he does provide some backstory.
Well, his work is comprised of others accounts.
It can be unnerving when it comes to the malevolent species.
If I had to pick a side drawn from my own conclusions- it would be MUFON over Dr. Greer because if there are malevolent species, you won't catch me in the open air shining lasers and telepathically calling the closest craft to come down and visit, blindly welcoming.
Some close encounters and abductees are horrified by their experience and live through a lasting trauma.
If you peruse the national ufo reporting center website, you will see reports of different crafts and behavior. One could interpret this as different levels of curiosity or.....various agendas.
The universe is infinite as far as we know- beyond our humanly knowledge and capabilities. We haven't even fully explored our own galaxy. If we have the ability to be malevolent at times, what human can really say there's not another life form like us? Another life form that relies on food (other life forms) for energy? We all know what can happen when we get a little hungry. We all know the greed that can came from the demand and price of natural resources. Could other species scout the Earth just as we are racing for resources on the moon? There should be no limit to possibilities so I can only stay open minded.
BOTTOM LINE- 100% would recommend as a read. It's different from the others when you want a refreshing change in format. No long stories so you can pick up anywhere- almanac style. A reference guide for alien races that can be quite entertaining!

An interesting and fun to read book for those who are into extraterrestrial species.
Format: Paperback
My reading interests have always been wide and varied. I love exploring scientific topics like physics, astronomy, cosmology and space travel; however, I am also curious about many other strange and unique subjects and after seeing this book (The Extraterrestrial Species Almanac: The ultimate guide to greys, reptilians, hybrids, and Nordics (MUFON) by Craig Campobasso) on Amazon I decided to purchase it.
Even though I am scientific minded I have to admit to be fascinated when I started to read this tongue and cheek treatment of supposed creatures inhabiting our universe, which must be hiding from our scientists who are working for SETI. May be they should also read this book? In any case, I do like this book because it is a joy and a fun exploration of what extraterrestrials might look like.
If you are interested in the unknown mysteries of outer space and what an alien race might look like, what their philosophy might be, and whether they are friendly to we earthlings or not, this book will provide that information as long as you keep in mind that it is a “tongue in cheek” evaluation. I also found the illustrations of our space brothers and sisters kind of interesting and unique.
This volume is organized into 6 parts covering human extraterrestrial races, zeta humans, (greys and more), animal and insect races, notable hybrid races, reptilians, and other extraterrestrials.

Interesting
Format: Paperback
This was a very interesting read. I read it cover to cover in 2 days. It was fascinating. Many details within matched up to various interviews and stories I have heard. That being said, I did find it odd all the "human" like aliens appeared to be Caucasian. I realize most the descriptions included multi colored skin tones, but all the pictures appeared Caucasian. So the universe with multi dimensions has no diversity?? Also, why were the most malevolent beings the most terrifying in appearance? That seemed a bit odd. That they would just so happen to be the ones that also look the most scary? Also, I looked up some of the resources and such used and they were charging exorbitant amounts to hear about their contactee interviews or be apart of star seed ascension or whatever. It's just, if everything is to be believed, wouldn't they want everyone to experience the path to enlightenment? I mean we all have to earn a living, but $40 just to hear one session?? I scoffed at that. All that being said, I am very open minded and well, ready to ascend from this plant, like, yesterday.

Incredible source of information on extraterrestrials and where they come from

This book Has changed the game and is a breakthrough for those of us who want to know more about life that exist in our shared universe. The author has brought us an in-depth view of species and beings from all throughout the galaxies. A profound read full of information on extraterrestrials like never before, we get to have them all in one book! The author has done an amazing job with his research and is knowledgeable and convincing I believe he has evidence and enough resources to make this book believable to readers and one we can trust. Truly a work of art I have learned so much more than I ever had on this subject and really look at this book as a blueprint for humans to get know all of names of the extraterrestrials and where they come from.

A very interesting read
Format: Paperback
The book has a straight forward and simple layout. I liked the variety of info they had on different "species", some probably real, and some very questionable. Since the information the author uses relies on MUFON reports, it assumes all reports people gave over the years are true. It loses me when it gets into the more malevolent groups like reptilians and then believe it or not, dragons, which are the ultimate evil controlling them.
