Care Guide

Jade Plant (Crassula Ovata) Indoor Care Guide

Jade plants, also known as Crassula ovata, are popular succulents known for their resilience and symbolic association with good luck and prosperity. Proper care is essential to ensure your jade plant thrives indoors. Here's a comprehensive care guide:

Light:

  1. Bright Indirect Light:

    • Place your jade plant in a location with bright, indirect sunlight. A south or west-facing window is ideal.
    • Rotate the plant occasionally to promote even growth.
  2. Adjust to Intense Light Gradually:

    • If moving the plant to a spot with more direct sunlight, do so gradually to prevent sunburn.

Watering:

  1. Allow Soil to Dry:

    • Water your jade plant thoroughly but allow the top 1-2 inches (2.5-5 cm) of soil to dry out between waterings.
    • Overwatering can lead to root rot, so it's crucial to let the soil dry between waterings.
  2. Watering Frequency:

    • Water more sparingly in the winter months when the plant is in a semi-dormant state.
  3. Use Well-Draining Soil:

    • Plant your jade in a well-draining succulent or cactus mix to prevent waterlogging.

Temperature and Humidity:

  1. Temperature Range:

    • Maintain a temperature range between 65°F to 75°F (18°C to 24°C). Jade plants can tolerate slightly cooler temperatures but should be protected from frost.
  2. Adaptable to Low Humidity:

    • Jade plants are adaptable to low humidity environments but thrive in average indoor humidity levels.

Pruning and Maintenance:

  1. Prune for Shape:

    • Trim leggy or stretched-out growth to encourage a compact and bushy appearance.
    • Remove dead or yellowing leaves regularly.
  2. Propagate Pruned Parts:

    • You can propagate new plants from the pruned branches. Allow cuttings to dry and callous before planting them in soil.

Insightful, funny, but a bit unforgiving
This book is an absolutely no holds barred guide for preparing a current/future Section 8 Landlord for difficult situations and tenants. The authors own over 300 rental properties and prefer to remove anything and absolutely everything not strictly required for passing a property inspection. This means ripping out things like screen doors, washing machine hookups, dishwashers, etc. Following their method, you end up with a relatively spartan property that easily passes inspection. They're a bit light on the empathy side, but overall, this is still excellent business advice. The writer is also really funny and some of the anecdotal stories are great. Definitely worth the money! The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is the Diversified Real Estate Investor Group papers (written by James M. Bennett) in Chapter 18 are incredibly difficult to read on a kindle (see the picture). Otherwise, this is a 5 star book full of excellent advice.

Nuts and Bolts of Section 8 for Landlords
Format: Paperback
Learned so much from this book. Lots of practical information and entertaining to read. I bought all of the books by this team of do-it- your-selfers. They even include access to a rental contract they advertise as ironclad.

Very open. No BS
Format: Paperback
I normally dont give reviews unless the product is exceptionally well. I am learning and will enter into this area of real estate thanks to this book series. I have read and highlighted the hell out of book one. Because, of the plain talk this book is written in make it easier to understand. Great job. After I finish all 3 of these. I will order the other. Thank you for sharing you knowledge, expertise and experiences. You really tell people the truth and I wasn't expecting that. I was expecting some truth with alot of BS. You delivered.

Great, Practical, Real
Format: Paperback
Finally a real estate book that has real, practical tips and methods to go out and get deals done. I almost didn’t read this as in the last few months I have poured through dozens of books and got sick of the “have a solid goal and motivate yourself” or the “this is why real estate is a great investment” that plagues 99% of books in this area while providing no real context. This book should have been my first go-to book. It’s real, authentic, full of real world advice and tips. Read it and you finally get an idea of how to do it from the guys who actually do it. This isn’t a “feel good” book written by an author or journalist. It’s a practical, raw, real-world guide to Section 8 real estate from the guys who have hundreds of units. A must read

Ha! Funny guys!
Man, these guys are a trip! They kept me in stitches! But seriously though, it's packed with enough information to embark on the section 8 landlord business if that's where you want to go. It's got lots of pictures to show what they're talking about and everything. Though it's not 110% complete. If you're really serious about it then you'll need to take some quickie classes on finding beat up homes for cheap. You won't find them all online and I plan to take a couple of quickie classes in real estate. You'll need to be up to code for the rules in your state. But this book is the most packed with information that I know of for the moment. So I consider it a must read. The print quality of the books is tragic, but don't let that stop you from getting your copy. It's all about real people in the business doing it and sharing with they accomplished and how they did it with us. And I appreciate it. And you might die laughing.
