Welcome to Plant&Leaf and our range of family grown plants. The first photo serves as a representative display, showcasing the beauty of a mature plant. The second photo provides a sample of a single plant from the current batch available. Please note the Pot size displayed on the heading of each product.

All of our plants are grown outdoors in nature and are exposed to the natural elements. Sometimes this means a leaf could have been chewed here and there or have a blemish or two – but we do our best to send the best plants we can on every order.

Anthuriums, also known as flamingo flowers (Flowering Types), are stunning tropical plants prized for their colorful, glossy, heart-shaped flowers and attractive foliage or for the interesting leaf shapes and textures in the species grown for their foliage. Here are some tips to help you keep your Anthurium healthy and thriving:

  1. Light: Anthuriums prefer bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves. Place your plant near a window where it can receive bright, filtered light or use sheer curtains to diffuse direct sunlight.

  2. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water your Anthurium thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Ensure that excess water can drain away freely from the pot to prevent root rot. Avoid letting the plant sit in water for extended periods.

  3. Humidity: Anthuriums thrive in high humidity environments. Mist the leaves regularly with water or place a humidity tray filled with water and pebbles beneath the pot to increase humidity levels around the plant. Alternatively, you can use a room humidifier.

  4. Temperature: Anthuriums prefer warm temperatures between 18°C to 27°C. Protect them from drafts and temperature extremes. Avoid placing them near heating or cooling vents.

  5. Soil: Plant your Anthurium in well-draining, aerated potting mix. A mixture of peat moss, perlite, and orchid bark works well. Repot your Anthurium every 1-2 years or when it outgrows its current pot.

  6. Fertilizing: Feed your Anthurium with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce or cease fertilization during the winter months when growth slows down.

  7. Pruning: Remove any yellow or dead leaves as they appear. Regularly prune your Anthurium to encourage bushy growth and remove spent flowers. Use clean, sharp scissors or pruning shears.

  8. Pests and Diseases: Keep an eye out for common houseplant pests such as aphids, spider mites, and scale insects. Wipe down the leaves with a damp cloth regularly to remove dust and discourage pests. Treat any infestations promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil.

With proper care and attention to its needs, your Anthurium will reward you with beautiful flowers and lush foliage for years to come.

Wise Advice for the College-Bound Student
Format: Kindle
I read this book after reading Newport's other study guide How to Become a Straight A Student and was looking forward to more of his easy to understand, quickly read nuggets of wisdom. Although I found the advice in his previous book to be more helpful, I did fine some words of advice that I will surely put to use in my upcoming semester. Among the gems I found, Newport reminds students to "Study in Fifty-Minute Chunks" and "Learn to Listen." In these short chapters there are ideas to help the student better utilize their time by minimizing distractions and knowing exactly what to listen for in a lecture. By far my favorite and most memorable line from this book is "A good analogy is that writing is to a college student what shooting hoops is to a basketball player." Wise advice indeed. I would recommend this book to high school an college students alike. The chapters are short and jam packed with good advice.

Good for some
Format: Paperback
Good advice but it's written for college students that don't work. Not for someone who goes to night school like I do.

An excellent story well worth a read
Format: Kindle
This was so well written, I loved every second of it. It was a lovely take on vampires and what they are or can be. Spoilers: This wasn’t an easy read for me. How Miyako’s parents acted… that was my parents only worse in a lot of ways and only better in that they never hit me as an adolescent. So reading this brought up memories of the abuse I suffered. Even so, it is a really good story and I highly recommend. I hope to read more of her stories soon and follow Miyako and see how she and her family grow as characters.
