This feature distinguishes it sharply from its close relative, Philodendron nangaritense, which has warty short blunt scales petioles. The "Fuzzy Petiole" is a climber throughout all stages of growth, characterized by longer internodes even at maturity, and its cataphylls persist as netted fibres, adding to its unique texture and appearance. The leaves evolve as the plant matures; juvenile leaves exhibit short rear lobes and a shallow sinus, while mature leaves develop larger rear lobes with a deeper sinus. The plant also showcases numerous primary and lower order veins, contributing to its dense and lush foliage.
