Original Item: Only One Available. These Japanese WWII folding Type 5 dust goggles are in remarkable condition, considering their age and previous use in service. The goggles come with front and side lenses that provide excellent protection against dust, debris and other airborne particles. The metal frames are sturdy and well-crafted, and are attached to an olive drab cloth body that is both comfortable and durable. The elasticized band (no longer stretches) ensures a secure and snug fit, even during intense physical activity.

However, despite their overall great condition, one of the lenses has unfortunately cracked over time. The crack has been repaired with tape, which has helped to keep the broken pieces together. While the crack may affect the clarity of vision through that lens, the other lens remains in good condition and provides clear vision. Overall, these Japanese WWII folding Type 5 dust goggles are a testament to their quality craftsmanship and durability, and would make a valuable addition to any collection of military artifacts.

Comes more than ready for further research and display.

This type of goggles originated in France and is commonly referred to as the "early French types". The earliest advertisement for this kind of goggles dates back to 1904. They were designed to be foldable, making them easy to carry around, while still providing good peripheral vision.

In the early 1920s, the Japanese Imperial Army Air Force acquired a lot of French equipment, and it is possible that this type of goggles was among them. In the early 1920s, they were mainly used as aviator's goggles, which were leather-masked with nickel or chrome-plated frames. However, from 1930 onwards, they were designated as "Dust Proof Glasses" (防塵眼鏡 'Bōjin Megane') Type 5, which were used as general-purpose dust goggles for ground troops. The name "Type 5" refers to the fifth year of Hirohito's reign, which was 1930.

Later versions of the military "Dust Proof Glasses" had khaki-painted frames, and the mask evolved over time, with early ones being made of leatherette, while wartime production used high-quality, lightweight pale khaki canvas. Many pictures show troops using these goggles in dusty environments during the 1930s, particularly in central Asia, and elsewhere during World War II. Although Japanese tank crews had their own special laminated "Armoured" goggles based on the British Triplex "Featherweights" during World War I, non-armoured land transport troops, dispatch riders, and ground troops used these lightweight folding lens Type 5 dust goggles from the 1930s until the end of World War II.

Perfect fit.
Size: Large, Color: Dark Gray
I’m 5’9”, about 180 lbs. I got an L based on the Amazon recommendation. The size chart showed the pants being a 36” which is big for me but it’s those that stretch so if you’re a 34” like me, it’ll fit perfectly. No alterations needed for me. Great fit, good looking suit, nice material. I immediately bought another and hope it fits as good as this one. Genuinely impressed.

Great quality, better than a rental.
Size: 4X-Large, Color: Navy Blue, Size: 4X-Large, Color: Navy Blue
This suit was a pleasant surprise in quality! Just note, sizing isn’t perfect since it’s a set, so the pants were really long and the waist slightly bigger than my husband’s actual size, as we had to fit for his chest and shoulders. However, we were able to hem the pants quite easily and he just wore a belt which worked perfectly. For the price and quality you receive, well worth it. We ended up using a different tie than given so it would match my dress. Worth every cent even if worn once since rentals are way more expense. This held up for a full 8hrs of schmoozing and dancing and is still in great shape.
