The Story
The Red Gingham shirt. This shirt features red and white heathered yarns for a vintage effect, and has a brushed finish making it extra soft. Constructed from luxurious 100% long fibre cotton engineered for maximum performance, and meticulously handcrafted in small batches in Italy. Single button cuffs and mother of pearl buttons. Just pair with some of our perfect fit raw denim to complete the look.
- THE FABRIC: We use only the finest Thomas Mason Bespoke fabrics for our shirts. Milled in Italy from the luxurious long fibre cotton, cross bred and engineered for maximum performance, then grown in the perfect conditions in Giza, Egypt. It's simply the best shirting there is.
- THE MAKE: All of our shirts are made in a small artisanal workshop on the east coast of Italy. Each shirt is cut, stitched and finished by hand using the finest materials. Single needle seams. Two piece collars. Mother of pearl buttons. The finest thread. Signature gusset. Horizontal belly buttons. Everything to make the perfect shirt.
- THE FIT: As with all our products, our goal is to make you look amazing and to feel confident. In a James Bond sort of way. An understated elegance, with an iron fist inside a silk glove approach to life. So all of our shirts are fitted. But not so fitted that you can't enjoy the odd Duke's martini, or that bottle of Grand Cru Burgundy you have been promising to share with that special friend.

seems like an unspecified struggle with herself

I don't know. It'ts a struggle for her to come up with the next line. Doesn't feel especially creative, inspired, or notably intelligent. I read other disappointed reviews people had written about this book, & bought it anyway. I tend to have avant-garde sensibilities, so I thought I'd enjoy it for its avant-garde qualities. I really tried to appreiate the experimentality of it, but I couldn't, because I realised I was readin it more for the sake of reading, & because I enjoy reading,than because this book is any good. I know a lot of unskilled teenagers who write dada-influenced poetry that's much more interesting than this uninspired book; I don't see what makes Anne Carson so special. 1 star because it's not a good book. 1 more star, bringing the total to 2, because I feel bad just giving it 1 star. At least she wrote something...

A Slip-Up

I don't know what happened here but Carson's last two books have really gone down hill. Men in the Off Hours, her first book since Autobiography of Red, is a mess. I don't know how else to describe it. It's not that I'd expect an easy read after her last book--just a consistent one. There are poems in here that first appeared in prose elsewhere and now are in lines! This suggests a lack of understanding of the line and its history and uses on the part of the writer, which shocks me since Plainwater and Autobiography of Red I truly liked.
I would not suggest this book if you like Anne Carson. It will disappoint you!

It’s alright
Format: Paperback
Definitely would be great for a teenager. As a 20 year old, not my favorite at all. If I was in junior high, I would’ve loved this book, but as an adult could not finish it. Love the cowboy theme and Texas A&M references though!

Daughters new Favorite
