This Cheongsam-inspired silk wiggle dress is such a beautiful statement. Made in the 1980s by a New York-based label, it features a high mandarin-collar mockneck, and such a svelte shape throughout, created by dropped, padded shoulders, offset by gathering at the waist, to create an hourglass illusion. There is boning on either side of the bodice to help this corset-like effect. I love the knotted swirl detail at the waist. The red pure silk fabric is so soft, with a subtle tonal pattern. The back has a bit of a keyhole, closing with a zipper at the gathered waist, buttons at the mockneck, and a hidden hook in between with the option of closing it more or wearing open for a keyhole effect. There is a slit in the back of the skirt for ease of movement. 100% silk
