Allium cepa "Texas Early"

Texas Early Grano onions are a type of sweet onion that are known for their mild flavor and large size. They are a popular variety of onion that is grown in the United States, particularly in the state of Texas.

These onions are typically harvested in the spring and early summer months and are known for their sweet flavor and tender texture. They are also known for their size, often growing to be as large as a softball. Texas Early Grano onions have a yellowish-brown skin and white flesh.

One of the reasons why Texas Early Grano onions are so popular is because they are low in pyruvic acid, which is the compound that causes onions to have a pungent taste and makes people cry when they are cut. This makes them a great choice for people who want to enjoy the flavor of onions without the harshness.

These onions are often used in a variety of dishes, including salads, soups, stews, and sandwiches. They are also commonly used in Mexican cuisine, particularly in dishes such as salsa and guacamole.

Overall, Texas Early Grano onions are a delicious and versatile variety of onion that are beloved by many people for their sweet flavor, large size, and mild taste.

Plant onions in early spring to be harvested in the fall. They have long growing seasons and usually can withstand a light frost.

Start seeds indoors since they need a soil temperature around 50F to germinate. Once it gets warmer outside and the ground can be worked, transplant seedlings outdoors. Space transplants 4-6" apart in rows 12-18" apart. The plants will need about 1" of water per week. Onions are ready to harvest when the tops turn yellow and start to fall over.

Long Day vs. Short Day Onions:

This designation refers to the amount of daylight the onions need during the summer to form bulbs. Onions are sensitive to amounts of daylight and since different parts of the country receive different amounts of daylight during the summer, onions have been bred to accommodate that. An imaginary line was drawn across the United States, stretching from between the border of North and South Carolina to San Francisco. If you live south of that line, plant short day onions. And, if you live north of the line, plant long-day varieties. There are Day-Neutral or Intermediate varieties, as well, which can grow in any location.

Fine for a man (with skinny wrists)
Color: Black/Gray, Color: Black/Gray
I have an older mens ironman which has gotten a little beat up and needs replacing. The band is much longer than I need. The metal clasp sits off-center on the underside of my wrist, closer to the part of my wrist which curves around to the front. The too-long strap sometimes flops around and catches on things. I couldn't find a smaller-band mens version, so I tried this "womens" watch (picking the most manly-looking one, of course). I like it better. The band fits my wrist much better, with the metal band in the middle and no flop. I also like that the watch is lighter and the face and band are smaller and less bulky, so it is less noticeable when I'm wearing it (cycling weight weenies will appreciate this). The face is still large enough to be easily legible and contains all of the same great features as my mens ironman watch, plus the newer versions now have an hourly chime, nice! Other info: my wrist is ~17.5cm or ~7.0" around. On this watch, I use the 6th out of 9 slots on the band. On my mens ironman, I use the 3rd out of 9 slots. Weight: this one = 28g, mens = 39g. Pics show comparison of my prior mens ironman with this new "womens" ironman. Photo order is confusing (couldn't figure out how to change that). They are: (1) side-by-side, mens on left, (2) mens band (wider and clasp is off-center on my wrist, end of band hangs over the edge of my wrist -- too long for me -- catches on things), (3) womens band (less wide, clasp is more centered on my wrist and end does hang over edge of my wrist), (3) womens watch (smaller, and looks new), and (5) mens watch, looking a little beat up.

Watch holds up in saltwater!
Color: Black/Gray
I bought this watch to use for my trip to the Galapagos Islands. I read two reviews that the watch does not hold up in salt water. I went snorkeling in the ocean 6 times, about 45 minutes each time. The watch did not leak. I did take precautions by keeping the watch under my rash guard and lowering myself slowly into the water. I also rinsed off my watch each time I snorkeled. I also bought this watch for the multi time zone feature by saving the time on the west coast, east coast and Galapagos time since I cannot change the time on my Fitbit until I land in an airport. I did not use any other features of the watch because I generally use my phone or Fitbit for an alarm or timer. The only complaint I have is that Timex now discourages changing the battery by the consumer. I changed the battery myself on my old Ironman watch. The new Ironman watch is fitted with triangular head screws. So I will have to purchase screwdrivers with triangular heads when it comes time to change the battery.

Reliable and durable, even in harsh conditions
Color: Black/Gray
This watch has served me very well. From Arctic waters to long distance races, it has held up to everything except one task I asked of it, which was my fault. This watch can handle repeated free dives to 12 ft deep. It cannot handle scuba diving at the same depth for an hour straight without needing to have the battery shorted to reset it. It fits well, lights up consistently and brightly enough to read without being blinding, keeps accurate time, and generally does everything I want it to.

Ten years of ownership…Thank you, Timex!
Color: Black, Size: One Size
Solid watch for everyday wear. I have worn this watch for over 10 years. I let a watch shop replace the battery about every 18 months. Other than the original band (which lasted 5 years) I have had zero problems. Still looks great, rugged and manly😇 Overall I recommend this watch for its value, reliability, simple clear design, legible hands in all light conditions. Great watch!!!

Solid Watch for Everyday Casual Wear
Color: Black, Size: One Size
I have purchased this item other times and I’m quite satisfied with wearing this watch everyday with casual wear. The size is just right not too small or large.
