Ludwig 1960s Speed King Bass Drum Pedal – Made in Chicago
An iconic piece of drum history, this 1960s Ludwig Speed King bass drum pedal was manufactured in Chicago during Ludwig’s golden era. Renowned for its innovative engineering and unmistakable feel, the Speed King remains one of the most influential bass drum pedals ever produced.
This example is in very good vintage condition, 100% original, and fully functional. It has been professionally overhauled: the internal compression springs were removed, thoroughly cleaned, and freshly lubricated, ensuring smooth, responsive action and quiet operation. The classic direct-drive linkage delivers the fast, articulate response that made the Speed King a favorite of generations of drummers.
Beloved by jazz, rock, and studio players alike, the Speed King offers a uniquely light and fluid feel that modern pedals still try to emulate. Whether you are a collector, a vintage enthusiast, or a working drummer seeking a legendary playing experience, this pedal delivers both historical significance and real-world performance.
A timeless design, still perfectly at home on a modern drum kit.
Professionally packed and shipped worldwide from Portugal.
