This dining chair was designed by Danish architects Tarquini Mårtensson and Michael Tarp Jensen for Idrættens Hus ('House of Sports'). This impressive Brutalist complex was situated in Brøndby, a few kilometers outside of Kopenhagen and built in 1974. The immense venue featured sports facilities, offices and meeting rooms. Today, the Danish Sports Confederation is still held in Idrættens Hus together with Team Denmark, Anti Doping Denmark and a number of special federations.
Inside the building, the function-driven and well constructed furniture compliments the sturdy exterior of the building. The black lacquered chair shows an honest construction with all metal joints and mounts visible. The rounded seat is upholstered in a bright green wool. The open construction of the chair contributes to the architectural feeling the chairs evoke.
Please note that the fabric contains some stains. Reupholstery can be done before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
