Pinecone Cactus (Tephrocactus articulatus)

A quirky, sculptural cactus with pinecone-like joints that easily detach and root into new plants. Each node can grow into its own unique cactus, making it a collector’s favorite and a great conversation starter.

Growth Habit: Clumping, segmented Bloom Season: Spring to early summer Dormancy: Winter Sun Exposure: Full sun to partial sun Soil Needs: Fast-draining, gritty cactus mix Hardiness Zones: 9–11 (20°F / -6°C) Native To: Argentina

Known for its pinecone-shaped joints, this cactus adds texture and movement to desert gardens and containers. Over time, it forms small clumps that bloom with delicate, creamy white flowers in the warmer months. The joints naturally detach, making propagation simple, just plant a node and watch it grow.

What you’ll receive:

Healthy Pinecone Cactus node, 3–6 inches long. Each cutting is fresh, unrooted, and ready to callous before planting. With proper care, it will develop roots and grow into a thriving cactus.

After Arrival

Carefully unpack your cactus nodes as soon as they arrive. Don’t worry if the ends look dry, that’s normal and helps prevent rot. Let the cuttings rest in a dry, shaded spot for 1–2 weeks to callous before planting in cactus soil. Avoid watering during this period.

Transplant Tips

Plant nodes in a fast-draining blend with plenty of grit: pumice, perlite, coarse sand, or granite, with just a touch of organic matter. Use a shallow pot with drainage holes. Once potted, wait about a week before lightly watering to encourage root growth.

Packed with ideas across most physics- a good purchase even for an adult.
Format: Paperback
Great information density! I though they did a good job of covering the basics to a higher resolution than I expected. I bought this for my 10 year old nephew, it's a bit out of his reach as far as information density- the pictures help a great deal but it is definitely a book that will require explanation for you ger children. I don't think it's ever too early to have exposure to this science.

Really great basic/intro to physi
Format: Paperback
Purchased as a birthday present for my very smart 14 year old grandson. The book gives simple discussions about most basic elements of physics. I’m hoping it is not too simple but not too complex. First look tells me I made a good choice. I may buy another one just to have around the house for other grand kids. I’ll give an update after he gets into it a bit.
